Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi

"This was our second stay at Iberostar Waves Herceg Novi and certainly will not be our last. Check in and out both swift and luggage taken immediately to our room. We opted again for the premium location sea view room at Luna building which was spotless and with a stunning view. We had excellent maid attendance throughout our stay. One of the main points for praise for this hotel is the attention to eco friendly tourism. We didn’t encounter any single use plastic which is to be commended. There are water fountains near the bedrooms to refill drinks bottles or carafes. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained. The sea was crystal clear with ample sun loungers. They even measure the lining up of the loungers when clearing at the end of the day! The bars were attended by friendly staff and wine/ beer and prosecco are self service. Plenty of choice of cocktails and soft drinks. Lovely fresh juices and detox waters at breakfast. The restaurant is one reason we came again. The standard of food hygiene was impeccable. If people think the food is samey they must be choosing the same things each day!!! Each day there was a theme ranging from seafood to chocolate fountains and a special shout out to ACO manning the grill section with a smile each day. There was a choice of 2 grilled meals and a fish choice each meal time with a variety of sauces to add interest I was so addicted to the mojo green sauce that I have had to learn to make it at home. There is a pizza section and a roast meat choice in addition to stews salads etc… The waiting staff are attentive and always friendly. One of our waiters Aldo even chatted to us on his day off. They added a cocktail night one night and this was lovely. We used a few of the day time activities and these were fun with no pushiness from the team. The evening entertainment on the whole was good but the fire show was not as good as last year. The water taxi is great and he went out of his way for viewings of a pod of dolphins which was lovely. We did not use other excursions as we hopped on the service bus from Herceg Novi to Kotor which was a beautiful drive around the fjord. We only used the pool at the end of each day but it was always clean and well maintained. We love the hotel the location the food and the staff and have come to consider this hotel as a relaxing retreat surrounded by beautiful views and pretty places to visit. We will be back!"

"Left this amazing place on Thursday, having stayed for 10 days. Location was beautiful. Montenegro is stunning and Herceg Novi the perfect base. The hotel is just across the bay from the old town. Water taxi is available from the hotel, hourly and very reliable. We flew in to Dubrovnik and took a private transfer to the border, crossed on foot (this means that you skip the line of cars), then in to another car to the hotel. Was quick and easy. We checked in early with no hassle at all and was by the pool relaxing within 20 minutes of arriving. Don't be put off by the small and basic looking reception. You will not see it again until check out. The view from our room was stunning! Room was clean and well equipped. They offer a mini bar package but there is a small village shop within a 2 minute walk of the hotel that sells drinks and snacks etc and is much cheaper. The buffet restaurant was good and especially seafood night! Coffee shop opens at 5am for early risers. The spa is good and the massage that I had was exceptional. The ladies are lovely. The pool was clean and getting sunbeds at anytime of day was never an issue. All the staff were brilliant, including the very busy bar staff by the pool. Cocktails were freshly made and asking for something not on the menu wasn't a problem. The real stars of this hotel are without doubt the animation team. They truly were all a joy to be around. Always friendly, never pushy and if you like to get up off the sunbed there's always something to do with them during the day. I have to give a special mention to Adam and Omar. They were by the pool at 10am and still working at 11pm. Always with a smile and a joke. These guys really made our holiday. It was actually really hard to say goodbye and we will miss them. They are a real credit to the hotel. With so many wonderful places in the world to see, I wouldn't usually return to the same place but will make an exception for this hotel and beautiful country. "An absolutely superb hotel - first time we have stayed in an Iberostar but we would definitely do it again. Everything was so well organised and clean. The location is ideal, set on a hillside (so yes lots of steps) giving you amazing views across the bay. The local town was easily reached by boat or if you wanted to go more regularly you could get a taxi. We loved the novelty of the boat though. We stayed on an AI basis and found the food tasty and varied. They had different themed nights and welcome drinks in the restaurant to match the theme. The grill was always on too giving tasty freshly grilled fish, chicken and meats. Also loved the roasted meat option at dinner too. I’m gluten free and lots of options available - freshly made gluten free croissants at breakfast too. Some lovely gluten free crackers, bread and biscuits in a separate cabinet too which made having cheese after dinner a real treat! We enjoyed superb drinks by the pool with incredible service from Sara and Dunja. They are a credit to the hotel and took time to know their customers. Mojitos were a favourite ❤️ The animation team were amazing - Adam, Lido, Mickey and Omar provided great activities throughout the day. They were encouraging and friendly taking time to learn names, creating a great atmosphere. We joined in far more than we ever had before and that’s due to the team, it really made our holiday. We enjoyed shuffle board, darts, water games, ping pong, glass painting and even face mask making. Honestly something for everyone! The evening programme - again hosted by the super animation team above - was so enjoyable. We really enjoyed the big band night (a local brass band playing modern music), the fire night, Montenegrin dancing, and casino night. Also some great live music by the pool and football streamed (Egyptian game was v tense) on a big stream. We booked a private speed boat tour with Bobina at the stand by the pool, and this was of high quality. We saw the blue caves, submarine tunnels, the lady of the rock and Perast. Vasilli drove the boat and acted as a great guide. We are sad to be home but so very thankful for such a great holiday at this hotel.
