Extra reassurance for customers

Following news of a surge in bookings as a result of the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday and the holiday company launching summer 2022 holidays on Tuesday, easyJet holidays is also helping answer questions and provide reassurance on the future of travel to help some customers make holiday plans.

While the nation waits for the full details of the roadmap for opening up international travel, due on April 12, it’s clear that holidaymakers are keen to know more about how key issues such as quarantine, testing, vaccination, short notice changes and simply changing their mind may impact future holidays.

Given some uncertainty about summer holidays remains, easyJet holidays is seeking to reassure and help provide answers ahead of the April 12 travel update.

In September 2020, easyJet holidays introduced its industry leading Protection Promise, a permanent overhaul to its standard terms and conditions which offers customers ultimate flexibility.

The holiday company has now added its Covid commitments to the Protection Promise, which means quarantine-free holidays and the option of a refund if you’re impacted by travel restrictions at home, under its Protection Promise pledge.

The operator is now demonstrating three example case studies to show how its Protection Promise looks after customers and means anyone can make a booking knowing that if plans change, so can their holiday.

Example one – Four friends due to enjoy a city break over Easter 2021

The holiday company has contacted all customers due to travel before 17 May 2021 to let them know their booking can’t go ahead and to offer impacted customers a full refund or the chance to rebook a new holiday with the offer of £100 off. Holidays through the operator are on sale now all the way through to October 2022 departures. Any new booking the friends make would be covered under the holiday firm’s Protection Promise such as the Best Price Guarantee element meaning if the friends find the same holiday cheaper elsewhere, easyJet holidays will beat the price. The friends will have up to 28 days before they travel to make any changes to their booking or to cancel it altogether without incurring any fees.

Example two – A family wanting to book a May 2021 half term beach holiday

A family of three are keen to get away at their earliest opportunity. While they know there are more details due on how international travel will be unlocked on April 12, they can secure a May half term holiday for just £180 (£60pp deposit). If they booked now, their balance isn’t payable until just four weeks before their holiday, and crucially, after the date when there should be more clarity on quarantine, testing and vaccinations from the government. The holiday company will be reviewing any new travel requirements once confirmed and will support and be as flexible as possible with all bookings to ensure customers can have a safe and enjoyable holiday. And holidays will only operate to destinations where FCDO advice allows. Plus if the family changes their mind about their holiday, or just chooses not to travel any more, they can cancel it up to 28 days before travel and easyJet holidays will even return their £180 deposit back as credit to make a future booking when the time’s right.

Example three – A couple due to travel in June 2021

A couple are planning to enjoy a week in the sunshine in June having re-booked their holiday from last year. They both work full time in hospitality, so are worried about changing travel rules and regulations as they would be unable to go on a holiday which required quarantining on their return. The couple will have enough time before they are due to travel to make a decision about whether to go ahead with their holiday, and if they decide to cancel their holiday they will receive a full refund back to the original payment method used for their booking. They can also rest assured that, if new rules mean that they would have to quarantine on their return, easyJet holidays will give them the option to cancel at short notice, even if FCDO advice still permits travel. And, if there is a routine quarantine requirement in the destination, the holiday will be cancelled and the couple refunded in full.

More on the Protection Promise – full details can be found here.

The Protection Promise was launched in response to the top concerns Brits had in 2020 when it came to booking a holiday, with research undertaken in September finding that the number one worry of 46% of those asked was being unable to get a refund if the trip could not go ahead. Under the Protection Promise, If easyJet holidays must cancel a holiday, customers will be offered a full refund back to their original payment method. And, with easyJet holidays’ refund guarantee, customers who simply change their minds about their booking can receive a full refund up to 28 days before travel, also allaying the concerns of 35% of those who were worried about receiving their holiday refund in credit instead of cash.

Research carried out by the company also found that 37% of people worried most about losing money as a result of needing to change travel plans, while 24% worry about hidden charges when needing to make changes to their holiday. With the Protection Promise providing the freedom to change, customers can change their holiday with ease with no fees up until 28 days before departure.

And with 35% of the nation worrying that they’d lose their deposit if plans change, easyJet holidays reassures those planning ahead that if plans change more than 28 days before travel, they will refund deposits in full as easyJet holidays credit. Meaning that when the time is right to book another break, customers will have a £60 per person deposit ready to use immediately.

The Protection Promise also makes it possible for customers to pay for their holidays in instalments with no fees, in a timeframe that best suits them. With a deposit of only £60 per person and the balance due just 28 days before travel, holidaymakers have full flexibility if plans change. And, all easyJet holidays are covered by a Best Price Guarantee – a promise that if a customer finds the same holiday cheaper elsewhere, they’ll beat the price.
