An island of myth and legend
Malta’s enchanting sister island is just 25 minutes away on the ferry, and provides a serene getaway offering rich history, stunning landscapes, and an even slower pace of life. Known for its rugged coastline, Gozo is home to iconic landmarks like the Azure Window’s remnants at Dwejra Bay and the towering Ta’ Pinu Basilica. The island’s capital, Victoria, boasts the historic Citadel, with panoramic views and fascinating museums. Its 7,000 years of history provide myth and legend, and it’s home to some of the oldest temples in the world.
You can get out in nature and explore the rugged cliffs, bask in the sun on sandy beaches like Ramla Bay – which has a unique rust-coloured sand and it’s been a favourite since Roman times – and find hidden coves, perfect for swimming or snorkelling. Gozo’s crystal-clear waters are among the Mediterranean’s best, with popular beauty spots including the Blue Hole and Inland Sea.
Easily accessible by ferry from Malta, Gozo is ideal for soaking in the history, nature, and authentic Maltese charm. This tiny island also offers a vibrant culinary scene, with local delicacies such as gbejniet (cheese) and ftira (a type of bread) served in charming restaurants and village squares. It’s the sort of rural paradise where you’ll visit the local baker for some tasty treats between trips to the beaches and fascinating archaeological sites.
