"We spent 10 nights recently in Hotel Canal Grande. We chose it based on the stellar reviews and its location on the Grand Canal. We mostly stay in airbnbs, but for Venice, a hotel seemed the right choice. The hotel's location is extremely convenient for so much--taking a train, using the vaporetto, accessing the airport, and exploring the lovely neighborhood on foot. I do not recall the names of all the staff, but everyone was extremely helpful and welcoming. The ones we saw most often were Anka and Lucia, and though Chiara wasn't around much during our stay, I had emailed with her a lot before our arrival. My husband ran into her once at breakfast, and she made a point of saying how lovely it had been to meet us. We echo the opinions of other reviewers on the beautiful decor and cleanliness. Our Prestige room was small but very well appointed. It even had what Anka called a balcony but was really a large deck with amazing canal views, and even the desk chair was really comfortable. I don't know what the suites are like, but you might choose one if interior space is important. I cannot say enough about the daily, included breakfast. You will be offered a vast array of breakfast foods. I stuck with the freshly scrambled eggs and cooked meats, but there are also raw eggs to boil, cold meats, cheeses, yogurt, breads, cicchetti, croissants, juices, and many sweets. You can get espresso and cappuccino to order, but there is also a coffee/tea station where you can help yourself. I had read rave reviews about coffee, but I didn't try the brewed coffee at that coffee/tea station until the last day when it was brewing while we waited for our speedboat to the airport. That coffee, which was really powerful and tasty, is ready by 7:00 am, so it's available for early risers. All Prestige rooms have kettles for making tea and instant coffee in the room. If you rise really early, as I do, this may be all that is available when you wake up. I knew that would be the case, so I brought a collapsible Melitta cone, coffee, and some paper filters. Bringing coffee wasn't really necessary since there is a little grocery store right next to Ai Garzotti, which is a restaurant just a 3-minute walk from the hotel that I highly recommend. If you're a tea drinker, you'll want to snag some of the nice tea at the coffee/tea station for your room. On our departure day, I was really happy to see Anka arrive. She was able to check on our speedboat reservation and call the driver to make sure he was on his way. I could not recommend Hotel Canal Grande more highly. We hope to return."
