"This was a pre cruise 2 night stay. Hotel is in a great spot and we found lots of local bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. The hotel reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was tired and small but good enough for what we needed. The bathroom with shower was tiny but the shower good. The paper cups for your morning coffee and no milk of any variety was disappointing. Our room was 202 just off the breakfast room so I could nip out for milk. The breakfast was okay but nothing special, didn’t try any hot food. The major downside was the temperature of our room, the a/c was ineffective and consequently too hot. Would I stay again? Yes for location but not for any other reason."

"Hotel below expectations; it does not deserve four stars. It absolutely needs to be renovated and cleaned up. We were given a room on the second floor with a nauseating smell of mold and dampness; we immediately asked for a change, which was promptly carried out with a twin room on the first floor. Later, after my complaints, the manager made it clear to me that I shouldn't complain because the change had been made to a suite... oh please!!! It only had the square footage of a suite. There was still a nauseating smell, you couldn't walk barefoot because the carpet was wet, and for my children there was a sofa bed that had seen better days, so much so that my son woke up with a stiff neck; in the bathroom, there is a tub used as a shower, which is extremely uncomfortable. Breakfast was neither good nor bad; I've had better in four-star hotels. Ultimately, we were happy to leave after two nightmare nights."

"Had a four night stay at the Ca Dei Conti, tagged onto the end of another holiday. The location is very good, with easy access to St Mark's Square (5 minute walk). I have not stayed in other Venice hotels to compare, but found that there was surprisingly little storage space for clothing, with only very small antique furniture in the rooms we stayed in. The rooms and bathrooms were also very small, but this may well be because of the historical nature of Venice and the building in general. The breakfast was a buffet style and we only had it on one day out of four, as it was very basic and not to the liking of our children (they are 22 and 20) and it had very poor gluten-free options. Whilst the rooms were very clean, the carpets and curtains (plus pelmets) were not and I think the whole place would benefit from a really good, deep clean when time permits. Reception staff were fantastic and overall, I suspect this offers good value and is in a great location. I would however advise not to imagine a hotel in Venice which is similar to the modern hotels we are used to in other areas. The building and part of its charm is the history of Venice and this affords a good base to explore the city."
