"We had a very nice stay at the Hotel Indigo in Sant Elena. The reception desk (two younger associates) were friendly and gave us some great recommendations for food. We had 2 rooms, both king suites with sofa beds. There was still plenty of room, even with the 2nd bed pulled out.
We appreciated the free bottles of water and the beautiful bathroom. I especially appreciated the larger towels and comfy bathrobes.
There is a courtyard that is a nice place to relax and due to heat there were squirt guns to play with.
There was a beautiful breakfast set up in the morning but we weren’t provided with any information, so we opted to eat elsewhere.
The bar is great and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine one evening.
While our original reception was nice, the other agents were not as friendly. We were very rarely welcomed when coming back into the hotel. One agent didn’t even look up from his screen any time someone entered the hotel.
While not under the control of the hotel, the power went out for several hours one day, therefore no food, air conditioning, or elevator were available. My mom had returned to eat some lunch and was unable to do so.
The hotel is in a residential part of Venice, which is nice, but there are also very few food options nearby. We quickly found out that most restaurants do not serve food (including no grocery/convenience store) during the middle of the day (2-6 pm) so after a morning of travel we had issues finding something to eat. Walking about 15 minutes or taking the water bus would get us more options, but just something to think about when traveling as a family. This is no issue of the hotel, but something to consider.
We visited during the summer and the hotel is surrounded by a park and many trees, which we loved. But during the summer the cicadas are awake and very noisy. Even with the windows closed and curtains drawn you can hear them in your room. The sound didn’t bother me, but the sound did bother my daughters. Just another thing to consider for a summer stay."
