"Stayed for 3 nights in late April and had a fantastic visit to a unique and beautiful city. The hotel is in a very convenient location; it was easy to take the Alilaguna orange line boat from the airport and alight at Guglie, the 2nd stop. From there it was a mere 3 minutes walk to the hotel. First impressions of the Canareggio Canal and area were great, the pavement was wide, the canal was busy with activity and it felt very light and airy. We were blessed with 3 days of blue skies and sunshine too! The Carnival Palace was a great choice; the rooms were very comfortable, the bathroom had an excellent shower and the complimentary bottle of fizz in each room was a nice touch. There was also a pleasant bar area downstairs and a very pretty enclosed garden.
All the staff we encountered at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The front desk staff (in particular Tony) were chatty and very willing to help with directions and suggestions. The ladies in the breakfast room were friendly and efficient in the mornings and any cleaning and maintenance staff we met greeted us cheerfully.
We found the hotel to be the ideal combination of comfort and location. We bought multi-day vaporetti passes from the little tabac shop just along the canal and used those frequently (including for a day trip out to Burano - highly recommended). Nowhere is too far of a walk away; 10 minutes to the train station for boat connections, 15 minutes to Rialto Bridge, 25 minutes to St Mark’s Square. The most fun however is just wandering with no agenda through the small streets, marvelling at the canals, bridges and buildings; it’s so interesting and truly beautiful. And I must finally mention the bars with cicchetti along the Fondamento della Misericordia, about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We really enjoyed grazing on those delicious little snacks with a glass or two of wine in the evenings.
Highly recommended, I can’t wait to go back!"
