"This hotel is outstanding, so much so that my girlfriend and I stayed here twice this year. We first went in March and stayed a couple of nights, as it had a discount for its opening week, and then we stayed again in August for a longer getaway. Both times we stayed here, it blew us away and truly made the holidays extra special.
The hotel is beautiful and has all of the usual touches from a Hoxton that you’d expect - if you haven’t stayed at one of their hotels before, they’re always stylishly decorated and have plenty of good places to eat, drink and grab a coffee in a buzzing lobby area. This new one in Florence is no exception and has some stunning spaces, and is mainly inside a renovated Renaissance palazzo, alongside a postmodern building across its courtyard. In the summer, the courtyard is an atmospheric place to get a drink and soak up the evening sun before heading into town, whilst the lobby bar is a perfect place to get a coffee and fresh pastry in the morning before a day of exploring Florence.
The rooms are excellent too, with comfortable beds and great showers. The air conditioning works well and there’s also a fridge, along with nice little touches like a Roberts Radio, which you can airplay your music to.
Food and drink at the hotel is lovely too. Alassio is the hotel’s main restaurant, and both times we ate there, the food was delicious. Classic Italian dishes, cocktails and desserts are on offer. The hotel’s wine bar, Enoteca Violetta, wasn’t open when we stayed in March and it also closed for the summer months to encourage patrons to enjoy Alassio’s outside space, but the bar itself looks like a great spot for a drink. We opted to have breakfast in the lobby bar, which locals drop into every morning before work. The barista skilfully slings espressos and cracks on, serving everyone with a smile and chatting with those at the bar before they head off for the day.
That brings me onto the staff. From when we first arrived late at night in March, manager Eleonora and her team greeted us with such a warm welcome, and the same welcome was extended to us when we came again in August. The team here greets their guests like old friends, and nothing feels like too much trouble. Every day when we walked past the front desk, and when we returned from sightseeing and exploring, we were always asked how we were, what we’d been up to, and offered recommendations. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels for business and holidays, and Eleonora and her team are honestly the benchmark for impeccable service.
The hotel is in a great spot, and is around 15-20 mins walk from the Duomo. The neighbourhood isn’t especially noisy and feels way less touristy than other areas, and you get more of a local flavour staying here.
All in all, The Hoxton Florence is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, and can’t recommend it enough. Whether it’s your first time in Florence or you’re coming back again - which is definitely likely, since it’s such a wonderful city! - then definitely check this hotel out. It will definitely add something special to your trip!"
