"I feel like I have mixed feelings about this hotel, so I will share my feelings in this review.
We are a very well-travelled middle-aged couple. I had emailed the hotel several times prior to arrival to confirm we would be arriving prior to the 3pm check in and that we were visiting for our anniversary. Upon check in, there was no mention of me emailing regarding earlier check in we were just told your room is not ready, come back for 3pm. Which was fine as the staff were polite enough. Arrived back after 3pm to check in, room was ready and was showed to our room, a premium double. There were no acknowledgements that it was our anniversary, not something expected, but something that yearly when we travel for our anniversary has never not been acknowledged in all the countries we have visited. The room was lovely, so clean and spacious, bed was super comfy and my god you literally melted into the pillows 10/10 for the room (if you are a light sleeper take earplugs as the road is VERY busy until the early hours then starts again around 6am) Not a problem for me as I sleep in earplugs due to a snoring husband. The decor of the hotel is very quirky which I loved, however it does have a very dingy feeling too it and does feel very dark. I also feel like the hotel has zero atmosphere, you feel like everyone whispers and the staff literally acknowledge you by 1 word, they never engage in a conversation with you, I found that very strange and the total opposite to any other place I have visited in Italy, even at checkout she just charged me the room tax and never asked about my stay. We did try go to the hotel bar twice during out stay, but it was empty so turned straight back round, maybe people prefer a bar with a bit more atmosphere, you could literally hear a pin drop!! We went B&B basis, breakfast was nice, you order off a menu what I will say and I other guests saying the same, the breakfast was literally just luke warm, not hot!! We had this for 2 out of the 3 mornings, the 3rd morning it was warm, but not piping hot. I did find the breakfast staff very friendly!
The hotel is in a fantastic location to be able to visit all the beautiful sights in Florance, I would 100% return to Florence, but I don't think I would return to this hotel. I expected more for the money that we had paid and it was not the vibe (there is zero vibe or atmosphere) I was expecting."
