Hotel Indigo Florence

"I recently stayed at this hotel in Florence and had such a wonderful experience. The interior is absolutely beautiful — stylish, clean, and full of charm. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, (shoutout to Pier at breakfast) always ready to help with anything I needed. The location was perfect for exploring the city, and everything about the stay felt comfortable and welcoming. "The location is fantastic - just a 5-minute walk from the train station and about 15 minutes on foot to all the major sights. It's the perfect base for exploring the city. We stayed in a premium room with a balcony. The room was super comfortable, modern and beautifully decorated. We especially appreciated the little touches — an espresso machine for our morning coffee and a well-stocked minibar. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Florence!"

"Spent 5 nights at the hotel for a family event in Firenze. As someone who stays at hotels worldwide around 5-6 months a year and having achieved elevated lifetime status with major hotel chains, the decisions of the owners of this property to switch to the IHG Indigo brand was a shrewd decision as it will attract a lot of international guests. This involved a major refresh and refit of the hotel in the Indigo ‘house style’. Check-in was smooth and Dario was kind enough to find a room for me at 11.45 in the morning. I didn’t receive an upgraded room (I booked a standard room) so the space itself was around 22 sqm. The room had a balcony but with a noisy tram line and road below, I couldn’t really benefit from the extra space. The bathroom was ok. It still had a step-in bath tub while a walk in shower would have been better. The bed was comfy but the pillows were not the softest. Wardrobe space and shelving was very adequate and unlike many Italian hotels had an ironing board and iron available in all rooms (as per IHG standards). Rooms were cleaned thoroughly everyday and water bottles replaced every day. I chose to pay an extra 18euro per day for breakfast and in hindsight, I shouldn’t have. The food selection was repetitive and when I arrived later in the breakfast time, the choice was even thinner. The staff were friendly in the breakfast room. You can get a top class breakfast (outstanding coffee, pastries etc) at one of the many excellent cafes in Firenze for 18 euro so unless you must, avoid breakfast. The gym is small and not really extensive enough for folks with complex exercise routines but was fine for cardio and limited strength training. The reality is that the hotel location close to the main railway station and association with IHG branding means that the property will likely prosper. The room rate in early October at 400 euro/night for a standard room is not cheap but compared to other international hotel brands in the same segment is competitive. As someone who books a fully flexible rate and typically routinely checks for better room rates and switches if necessary, I was unable to do so for this trip so the hotel has good control over inventory in my view. On the people I met at the hotel, 5* goes to Dario on the front desk. The hotel management should try hard to retain him. He has a sense of hospitality and professionalism which is not easy to find these days. As with many visitors to Firenze, I spent most of the day away from my room wandering around the spectacular city thus overall, the hotel was OK. I have been fortunate to stay at more elevated properties in Firenze such as the St. Regis in the past and Indigo is not substantially worse than them but it’s not going to leave a lasting impression for me either."
