Hotel della Signoria

"Overall a good value imho. Larger rooms than our hotel in Sorrento, which was great! Location was also great, near the Arno River and only about a 20 minute walk to most of the things we wanted to experience. The staff was very helpful and welcoming, and their English was pretty good across the board. The breakfast on the terrace was included in our room rate and was really good - eggs made to order (including delicious omelets), many fruits and pastries, and even smoked salmon and more traditional European breakfast foods. I would say the variety and quality of breakfast items made it an excellent start to each day. For us Americanos the shower in the bedroom wasn’t ideal but, when in Florence….. The only other negative I would say is there was an odor throughout the stairwell and hallways that wasn’t pleasant. But again, overall this was a very good place to stay, especially for us folks who don’t spend a lot of time in our hotel room and simply want a clean, welcoming place to stay while touring around. "We first stayed at this hotel with other family members in July, taking two rooms. The hotel is well situated, within a couple of minutes walk from many of the major attractions Florence has to offer. The rooms are adequate for two, but the outside noise at night does not seem to disappear until well after 2:00am Our first stay was incident free, but when we tried to change our dates for a return stay in August due to a medical issue, we were treated like we didn’t exist. Yes, we were just outside the period of making changes by two days, but when you have a medical emergency happen, at least you would think the hotel would be accommodating, especially seeing as how we were there the month before. The receptionist was outright hostile to me on the phone, she did not want to help, and said words to the effect, “you don’t come, we give the room to someone else” As it turned out, she did us a favour as we booked with an old favourite and were greeted with care and respect when we arrived We lost quite a bit of money on this occasion but let’s say, there are better options to be had in Florence"

"The Hotel Della Signoria is wonderful. It's a boutique hotel centrally located to everything for a tourist in Florence. We walked everywhere - key sites, restaurants, shopping - all within minutes. The rooms are very clean though smallish - definitely adequate for two people and two large suitcases. The staff is very friendly and helpful with directions or recommendations. Breakfast is served on the top floor with amazing views of the city. The food was excellent and there were many choices. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great hotel in a great location."
