"We’re just finishing our week at nh Palermo, and have had an absolutely fantastic time!
We travelled to Palermo for this specific week as my birthday coincides with the Santa Rosalia festival. I’d like to start with shouting out Martina - she helped my husband arrange everything, ensured we had a room with a beautiful view, arranged a stunning bouquet of flowers and a bottle of Prosecco for our room too. She really impressed us both and made my birthday trip extra special. The festival was great and the view from our balcony of the fireworks was simply breathtaking.
The check in staff also greeted us so warmly, without any reminder that it was a special occasion.
Then: Elia, the lifeguard. He’s an inspiring young man, works hard, goes above and beyond his lifeguard duties and was friendly and professional. They also have the most amazing DJ at the pool! She really knows how to judge the mood of the crowd - the music was always perfect and never “too much” it was a wonderful addition to the ambience. We’d also like to say thanks to Leo and all the other bar staff who work tirelessly, even in the blistering weather.
The hotel itself is in a great location, and having a pool in Palermo is a huge win. Another impressive touch was the pool showers also had hot water - not just the usual ice cold water you have to dance around in to stay warm. The food and drinks selection was great - I think we worked our way through the cocktail menu pretty comprehensively, and had no complaints!
Our room was spacious, well appointed (we even had an exercise bike - which, unfortunately, mostly worked as a towel dryer - but a cool touch nonetheless) and the amenity kits were genuinely helpful. There was everything from shaving kits to hair brushes and dental sets.
My only two suggested areas of improvement: there are not enough sun-loungers for guests. While I appreciate people head out to explore the city, or go to the beach, we regularly saw guests simply not get a bed. People used chairs, laid their towels down on the grass, or just gave up. Given this happened more than once, I’d recommend the hotel invests in a few more loungers to avoid disappointment. The second issue was our actual bed. It was huge and had fantastic bedding, but the bed itself was pretty uncomfortable - it was fairly lumpy and quite hard. I think a decent mattress topper would have solved this, so again - something for the hotel to consider.
All in all, a really stunning week at the hotel and I’d highly recommend for anyone who wants that balance of a city trip with a central location, and a tranquil oasis around the pool to retreat to after taking in the amazing sights of Palermo. Thank you nh Palermo!!!"
