"We've just returned from a wonderful week here and genuinely can't speak highly enough of Nicolas and his team.
A bit of context on who we are, as it might help others: we're both mid-40s senior professionals in the tech world. We love good experiences, but we were specifically looking for somewhere relaxing, tasteful and elegant - minimal children (we have our own at home!), beautiful surroundings, and a great base to explore. We got all of that and so much more.
We arrived on a recommendation and had reached out to Nicolas in advance to ask whether food might be possible given our late arrival. What was waiting for us was extraordinary - a fresh Monkfish, Tomato and Onion salad that genuinely blew us away. That single dish became the flavour we associate with Sardinia. We ate exceptionally well all week, both inside and outside the hotel, and the standard never dropped.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Set off the beaten track, it sits within a stunning botanical garden full of vibrant colour, with a main saltwater pool near the building and a second beach-front infinity pool around 200 yards away. Sun loungers were always available in great spots - not once did we struggle. The beach is a lovely mix of sand, some stones and a little seaweed, with the brilliantly clear water Sardinia is known for. We snorkelled and found some fish, though we wouldn't claim the area is teeming with marine life. The June sea temperature, however, was perfect.
The main restaurant handles breakfast and dinner for the half-board option, and the team there - Blessing, Francesco and others, made us feel genuinely welcomed every single day. Dinner was consistently superb: always three elegant courses, beautifully sized so you felt well fed without being heavy. Pudding was available at extra cost. The food was refined, healthy and deeply satisfying throughout.
The hotel has a lovely, quiet atmosphere. Over eight days, there was one evening of live music - a talented acoustic performer singing softly in the bistro area, which was a real treat rather than an intrusion. The Bistro itself is a wonderful spot: shaded, relaxed and perfect for lunch, evening drinks and, importantly, exceptional gelato. Gianmarco runs this space and is simply a delight - warm, attentive and possessed of world-class cocktail-making instincts. After asking us just a few questions, he crafted a series of different cocktails perfectly tailored to our tastes across the week. On our final evening, he also recommended one of his personal favourite local restaurants, organised the booking for us, and it was the perfect send-off to a perfect week.
We came looking for elegance and relaxation. We found that, and a team of genuinely warm, caring people who made us feel like guests rather than customers.
Grazie mille, Nicolas and eveyone at Costa dei Fiori. We'll be back. 🙏🏼🤩
