Grand Hotel Cannigione

"The rooms and hotel overall were immaculately clean and presentable. However the facilities were mainly disappointing. The beach club was a 5/10 minute drive away with a shuttle service from the hotel but had no toilets, showers or changing rooms, no cafe/snack bar, not even a bottle of chilled water to purchase. The pool area was in the middle of the hotel and had only approximately 20 sun loungers, 14 of which were in the shade all day because of the 3 storey building next to them. If you wanted to sunbathe you had to be lucky to claim one of the other 6 remaining. I was refused an iron or ironing board in the room. The ironing service offered was very expensive. The food in the evening in the restaurant was very average. The breakfast was most disappointing of all : All buffet self service apart from tea and coffee. The fruit juice was not freshly squeezed and was watery and bland. The supposedly hot food was cold each day and despite mentioning this to the waitress nothing was done about it. The cheese selection was left uncovered and unrefrigerated for the duration of the breakfast period. Most surprising of all you were charged an additional 6 euros if you wanted a fried or poached egg and 8 euros for an omelette. So to conclude I would not personally give this hotel a 5 star rating."

"Great service at a hotel with good taste and simple elegance. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with elegant and modern bathrooms. The breakfast is excellent, as are the à la carte options at the restaurant and bar. Even though the pool is a bit small, it is very attractive. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is close to other attractions and restaurant options."

"The Grand Hotel Cannigione is a very nice, small, clean, well-maintained property where we felt very comfortable for four days during our stay. I would recommend the superior rooms with a terrace and direct access to the pool. Due to the central location, you can reach various very nice and good restaurants in 5-10 minutes on foot. The hotel's own beach is very beautiful, the "sea platform" is a dream. The shuttle service there works reliably and smoothly. We did not use the restaurant in the evening. For one thing, because the town center and many good restaurants can be reached very quickly on foot. For another, the restaurant in the evening was also as good as not used by other guests. I can therefore make no statement regarding the quality. However, no advertising was done for dinner, nor were any special promotions - neither for food nor entertainment - offered. Due to the location in the north of the island, many sights can be reached by car in approx. 30 minutes. In this respect, it is an advantage if you have a car on-site."
