"Simply our worst hotel stay in years, based in the reality of being there rather than the carefully worded and photographed website.
Reception is a corridor, there’s no concierge or help with bags, which you might expect from a 4 star hotel. Reception staff are friendly enough but you’ll soon learn they can’t solve any problems.
The rooms are small and cramped, bathrooms are tiny, especially the shower cubicle, storage space is minimal (not a single drawer in the room) and there’s no facilities for tea/coffee. Those were not the biggest problems.
When we first got to our room the door was propped open and the window on the street was also left wide open - we soon found out why. With both door and window closed the room was unbearably hot and stuffy, so we tried the aircon, but all that did was blast out hot air. We asked for a change of room, which wasn't possible, and requested someone to look at the aircon but this was early evening, so nothing happened, leaving us an extremely uncomfortable nights sleep, especially as the beds are rock hard (I like a firm mattress but this was like sleeping on concrete).
Sadly that wasn’t all, this is a very noisy hotel, from the street, corridors and the adjacent rooms. We could hear everything that was going on in the next room (I hope that guest sorted out his problem). The service in the bar (not a rooftop bar incidentally, even though they called it that) was non existent, having been directed to a seat, they ignored us for 15 minutes, which turned out to be the final straw for us.
We found an alternative hotel and move on after one night, so our whole trip wasn’t ruined. Having been fortunate enough to stay in 4 and 5 star hotels all over Europe I’d rate this hotel as a 2 star, it simply doesn’t warrant 4 stars and that cannot be explained away by differences in local definitions. The website is laughably misleading and so I would advise you to find another hotel for your Rome stay, this one is likely to spoil your visit."
