"As a loyal Hyatt customer, I was really looking forward to my stay at The Tribune in Rome. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've had.
We booked a two-night stay and used a suite upgrade award. However, when we checked in, we were assigned a tiny room on the first floor, right next to the staircase and a storage room. We were honestly shocked when we walked in. My husband even said it looked like a basement.
I immediately went back to the front desk and showed them my reservation confirming the suite upgrade. To my surprise, they claimed it wasn't showing in their system and that they needed to contact Hyatt to verify it. Even more ridiculous, they initially told me that because it was Sunday, they wouldn't be able to confirm anything until the next day.
I told them that was completely unacceptable. I had booked and confirmed a suite, and I shouldn't have to spend a night in the wrong room because of their internal system or communication issues.
After going back and forth with the front desk, they first asked us to wait another hour, then changed it to 30 minutes. Eventually, we were moved to the correct room. I was extremely frustrated by that point. I've stayed at many Hyatt properties, and I've never experienced such an unprofessional check-in process.
Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there.
On our second day, after a long and exhausting day exploring Rome, we returned to find that our room keys no longer worked. Since the hotel only has one elevator, my husband had to go all the way back downstairs to get a new key while I waited outside our room for about 20 minutes. It was incredibly frustrating, especially after such a tiring day.
Then came the final disappointment. Since we had an early morning flight, we specifically requested a 5:30 AM wake-up call the night before checkout. The lady at the front desk assured us that it was arranged and even promised that someone would knock on our door if we didn't answer the phone.
Guess what? No call at 5:30 AM.
Thankfully, I didn't fully trust them and had set my own phone alarm. By the time we had already gotten ready and were about to leave the room, the phone finally rang — at 5:50 AM. Twenty minutes late! Imagine if we had actually relied on their wake-up call to catch our flight.
I'm really not a picky traveler, and I rarely leave negative reviews. But the number of issues we experienced during just a two-night stay was honestly unacceptable.
The rooms are also extremely small, even the Junior Suite we were eventually moved into. The service was mediocre at best, and the overall experience simply did not justify the price or its Category 6 Hyatt classification.
In my personal opinion, this hotel feels more like a Category 3 property than a Category 6.
I would not stay here again. Sharing my experience so other travelers can make an informed decision."
