"We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at Al Habtoor Palace Budapest, where my son and I were thoroughly spoilt from start to finish! The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of Budapest’s major attractions, making it the perfect base for exploring this beautiful city. We stayed in a Club Floor room, which was absolutely lovely, vast, beautifully appointed and exceptionally comfortable. After a busy day exploring, it was the perfect place to relax and recharge. The gym and spa facilities deserve a special mention, too. Everything is pristine, the gym equipment is excellent for a hotel, and we made the most of the hot tub, sauna and steam room on several occasions. A little luxury and relaxation after clocking up the sightseeing steps? Absolutely! But what really made our stay exceptional was the Club Lounge and its incredible team. Open daily from noon until 10pm, the Club Lounge was a real highlight. Kyla, Aisouda and Gabriella looked after us like absolute rock stars.  Nothing was ever too much trouble. From making reservations and offering fantastic recommendations to ensuring everything ran seamlessly, they went above and beyond to make our trip special. It’s often the little things that make the biggest difference, and these ladies genuinely understand what outstanding hospitality looks like. They were warm, attentive, professional and wonderfully welcoming, making both my son and me feel incredibly well looked after. A beautiful hotel, fantastic facilities, a brilliant location and a team who really do make you feel special. What more could you ask for? A huge thank you to Kyla, Aisouda and Gabriella for making our Budapest trip so memorable. You are a real credit to the hotel! "We had to leave a day early because our child was unwell. We informed reception in advance and were assured that the unused night could be refunded. However, at checkout, the staff suddenly claimed that nobody had spoken to us about it. After we insisted on speaking with a manager, my husband spoke to him directly while settling the bill. He asked for written confirmation that we had stayed only two nights. The manager declined to provide it but personally gave my husband his word that the hotel would approve the refund as soon as Booking.com contacted them. Throughout the process, the hotel repeatedly insisted that nothing could be done without Booking.com. We therefore contacted Booking.com, who agreed to forward the refund request to the hotel. Yet the hotel did not even bother to respond to Booking.com. Later, they simply refused the refund, claiming there was no written evidence of any agreement. How convenient. On the bill we received, they even charged us municipal city taxes for the third night when we obviously were not in the city at all! The overall hospitality was equally disappointing. Staff were remarkably unfriendly and unwelcoming. At breakfast, two employees walked straight past me without so much as a “good morning.” Apparently, even basic courtesy is too much to expect at this five-star establishment. Furthermore, the baby cot provided was an absolute disgrace. It was an old-fashioned metal cot resembling a hospital bed, with zero protective padding to prevent a small child from hitting their head against the metal bars. It came with a poorly fitted, untidy sheet, and no proper children's bedding, blanket, or basic comforts. For a hotel claiming to offer five-star luxury, providing such a poorly equipped, unsafe, and unwelcoming sleeping space for an infant is simply shameful. (See attached picture). What makes this experience particularly unacceptable is that a manager's word apparently means absolutely nothing at Al Habtoor Palace Budapest. Once payment has been collected, individual guests and basic child safety seem to become entirely irrelevant. The hotel appears to confuse luxury with expensive interiors, overlooking the very foundation of five-star hospitality: integrity, safety, accountability, and genuine respect for guests. Anyone can charge five-star prices. Earning five-star trust is an entirely different matter. For a hotel carrying the Al Habtoor name, this level of service, safety, and disregard for a management commitment is not merely disappointing — it is an embarrassment."
