"The hotel is located close to a main road that goes straight to the river side, so good for site seeing and good transport links nearby.
Lots of shops and restaurants nearby, including halal food options, cafes etc... Sign in was quick and easy.
They took in our luggage as we came before check in time. That was pretty safe and secure.
Hotel was clean and modern. Wifi was easy to setup for your room. Bathroom was kinda compact but good enough.
I did ask for a city view higher up, but got yard view on 2nd floor, I guess they must of been really busy.
Beds were ok. Room was quiet. Convenient plug sockets and enough for your charging needs.
For Ibis I thought the breakfast range was pretty good. The scrambled eggs could have been better as they were very mushy and then hard and lumpy in places, not very consistent. They had yoghurts, bread, cakes, drinks, range of teas, cereal, meats (if you can eat that). They also had a pancake machine, but it was unclear what this machine was so the first morning I didnt use it. They also have some alternating dishes, on one occasion they had this nice semolina pudding. I dont think there was good enough signage (or any..) on how to use it or what is was. Then I saw someone use it. You press one button and it pops out 2 small pancakes. Its a novelty thing for me, but think its not practical... as it creates a queue while one person waits like 5 minutes for two pancakes. Good thing is that it the dining area seems clean and modern.
Downsides: There was definitely bug(s) in the room, whether it was bed bugs, mosquito or something else I'm not 100% sure. On the first night after returning to the room, something flew into my face, it was like a small fly or something, I looked around for it but it had vanished. I showered and slept. The next morning i woke up and noticed a swollen bite on my head. My lip also felt weird...As the day progressed another bite/swelling appeared on my ear, lip and right arm. Now I know this cant have been from outside as I had my long sleeve jacket on all the time. After I had a shower though, new 'bites' stopped appearing. Though I checked mattress for bed bugs, as parts of it are black its hard to really tell. I had to use medication, check the room for bugs and made sure to sleep under the cover, to avoid skin exposure. On the last day I came out the shower and again i saw the insect most likely a mosquito fly towards the window from the bed, where my partner was sleeping... i tried to find it and couldn't, kinda vanished again.
Breakfast time was hectic. It was really busy, very hard to find a table. Breakfast time is open from 6 but it looked like all the guests were having breakfast around 9AM. Some people were darting about, cutting in, brushing past, stropping about. One morning one coffee machine ran out of coffee which meant a bigger line at the other machine, with people queuing from both sides.
One morning we had breakfast much earlier and it was much much better and less busy. The TV was good enough, some English channels, but some of the mostly non-English channels had really distorted images making them unviewable. Check out was straight forward enough and quick."
