Hotel Gin Budapest

"Hotel Gin is a small hotel with very limited common space, but that did not affect our stay at all. Our room was surprisingly spacious, very comfortable, and a great place to relax after a full day of sightseeing. The staff were incredibly freindly and always made us feel welcome. The location is extremely perfect for exploring Budapest: the 100E airport bus stop is right next to the hotel, buses 9 and 15 provide easy access to many of the main tourist attractions, and Metro Line 2 is only a few minutes away on foot. There are also a couple of supermarkets nearby, which was very convenient, plus plenty of restaurants in the surrounding streets. We had an excellent stay and would happily choose Hotel Gin again on our next trip to Budapest."

"For the second visit of Budapest, the hotel location was so convenient. Close to Metro station, great restaurants and cafes in the neighborhoods. The interior design was tasteful, and the place was quiet day and night. There was no restaurants in the hotel, no facilities except for rooms and a reception area - which kept the hotel almost like an apartment building. Cleaning service was good, nothing to complain. Shower, toilet all clean and works perfectly. Bed was hard, which we liked. Wifi was more less stable, but got cut off multiple times during 30 min video conference. Budapest in late July to August can be as hot as 40 degrees. The fridge in the room did not keep the drinks cool. Drinks stayed in the room temperature. The in room AC said it could keep to 18 degrees, but it was like 25+ degrees. I ordered a bottle of Hungarian wine to the room, and it was brought with room temperature. Basic infrastructure of the hotel when it comes to keeping clients cool during hot summer days was as low as the level of youth hostel. It did not meet the basic needs, unfortunately."

"I really hate this hotel. I’m currently sitting in my underwear sweating. The non existent AC has been on for an hour and the room is currently at 78 degrees Fahrenheit/26 degrees Celsius. But if I open the windows, the sun will beam into the room at 6 AM in the morning because the electric shades need to be up for the windows to be opened. We are staying at the top floor. It is also very noisy. We asked the front desk 3x, but there was no solution. The first response was horrifying. They told me “it’s too late right now. I’m working by myself. Just open the window.” I now know what hell feels like because I’m currently living in it. Send help. ETA: The bald guy at the front desk in the morning didn’t care. He rolled his eyes at me. I did have drinks at the Wonder Budapest hotel and that one looked lovely. Check that one out"
