Grand Jules Boat Hotel Budapest

"Extremely disappointing stay room strongly smelled of tobacco Came here with my husband for oyr anniversary and my 40th birthday. Our stay was seriously let down by the condition of the room. From the moment we entered, there was a very strong smell of stale tobacco/cigarette smoke throughout the room especially the bathroom 1 of the staff acted lilw ae was daft and said it didnt smell and then the other agreed said it needes a deep clean but nothing ever changed. I couldnt comfortably stay in the room as made me feel ill. It was so noticeable that it was impossible to ignore, and the smell remained throughout our stay. We had booked the room expecting it to be clean, fresh and suitable for a comfortable stay, but instead we were left having to put up with a strong tobacco smell that we had not caused and should never have had to accept. What made the situation even more disappointing was the way our complaint was handled. We raised the issue because the smell was genuinely unpleasant, but rather than feeling properly listened to or looked after, we felt that our concerns were dismissed. When you have paid for a hotel room, you shouldn't have to spend your stay dealing with cigarette smoke. This wasn't a minor smell that disappeared after opening a window it was strong, obvious and deeply unpleasant all we was given was a air freshner it affected our enjoyment of the room and ultimately our whole experience. For the price we paid, I expected a much higher standard. If a room has previously been exposed to heavy smoking, it should be properly cleaned, ventilated and dealt with before another guest is put into it. Was a joke"

"I wanted to celebrate my 60th somewhere special and this was it Comfortable double bed with a tv and fridge which was great. Set on the danube with absolutely stunning views especially when lit up at night. Where we loved sitting on the deck taking in the peace. The staff are so friendly and so helpful with us ordering a taxi etc. The breakfast was lovely too. Plenty to choose. I would definitely recommend here and would love to come back sometime. Would recommend margarets restaurant opposite and the night sightseeing boat with a four course meal and live music and dancing."

"Great location to get around Budapest, staff were friendly and very helpful, room and facilities were fine, enjoyed the morning breakfast, reception staff helpful recommending places to eat and sorting out airport transfer, would stay again."
