"While there were some positive aspects to our stay, overall the experience did not meet the standards we would expect from a 4-star hotel.
The resort is not suitable for guests with mobility issues. A member of our party has knee problems and found moving around the complex extremely challenging. Although ramps were provided, many were excessively steep and, in our view, do not offer genuinely accessible access. Guests with mobility difficulties should be aware that navigating the resort can be physically demanding and may significantly impact their enjoyment of the holiday. The rooms are also dated and in need of refurbishment, which further detracts from the hotel’s claimed 4-star standard. There were inconsistencies in room quality as the rooms in the main hotel building had been refurbished and provide a different experience overall, with much more modern rooms, bathroom/wash facilities, along with robes and slippers. This was not provided in our room which was in the separate hotel building which were dated.
The local drinks were of poor quality, and although the food was generally good, the selection was repetitive with little variation throughout our stay. The hotel would also benefit from implementing two sittings, for example, to avoid overcrowding and mass queues in the main restaurant. We give credit to William though in the main restaurant who assisted and attended to us kindly during our stay.
The hotel would benefit from getting waiting staff around the poolside and certainly in the bar area to avoid lengthy queueing at the bar to get a drink. Nibbles on the bar tables would also be a nice touch.
There were also insufficient sunbeds available, resulting in guests having to compete for seating each day. A point worth noting: the hotel has a policy where any towels placed and left prior to 9am will be removed by hotel staff. This policy was announced daily, although never enforced, therefore causing more competitiveness in terms of finding sunbeds. This also caused some aggravation between guests. A solution here would be the provision of more sunbeds.
Housekeeping standards were inconsistent, with our room being completely missed on one of the days. On several occasions, the towels did not smell as though they had been properly laundered. Furthermore, no hand soap was provided in our bathroom, meaning we had to purchase our own liquid soap simply to wash our hands. This is a basic hygiene requirement and something that should be expected as standard in any hotel, let alone one advertised as 4-star.
Cleanliness around the poolside was also poor, specifically around the grass and shower areas which were caked in mud and sand.
We were also disappointed that bottled water in the room was not replenished unless we refilled this ourselves at the pool bar or paid extra for it. Having access to drinking water in your room is a basic expectation, especially in a warm holiday destination, and charging guests for replacement bottles felt unnecessarily restrictive and poor value for money.
The reception staff were largely unhelpful and showed little interest in resolving issues or assisting guests. We also felt there was preferential treatment given to French guests who booked a package through a French package holiday company, which created an unwelcome and unequal atmosphere. When checking into the hotel, we were given very little information about any of the hotel’s facilities, essentially being given our keys and sent on our merry way. I have to say, the gentleman who checked us in was lovely, but more information at the time of check in would have been helpful. There was absolutely no information in our room either telling us about the local area or the hotel’s facilities.
The standout feature of the hotel was the animation team, particularly Leslie and Joana, who were friendly, professional, and a credit to the resort. Their enthusiasm and dedication were one of the few highlights of our stay. Three members of the animation team represent a French package holiday company at the hotel who have a notably different presence within the hotel – they only seemed to care about their French guests, giving them more attention than any other guests, and did not uphold the same standards as the other members of the animation team.
WiFi in the hotel was also very poor.
The local area itself has many good factors with plenty of supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby. The area is also close to Rhodes Town which is well worth a visit. A word of warning – if anyone is getting a taxi from the hotel, do not order this from reception as there is an additional approx. €5 charge. The taxi rank is situated across the road from the hotel and it is cheaper to get a taxi from there. There are also local bus services which take you into Rhodes Town.
Yiannis Pub below the hotel offered a great service and brilliant drinks. Please note this is not affiliated with the hotel, but is a great place to go and provided much better quality of drinks and service.
Unfortunately, the positive contribution of the entertainment team and one member of the restaurant team could not compensate for the numerous shortcomings. For a hotel marketed as a 4-star resort, the overall experience fell well below expectations, and we would not return or recommend it to others seeking the standard typically associated with that rating."
