"Just came back from here after a relaxing week. This hotel is not for those wanting loads of activities or late noisey nights out. But if a week where you sort your own entertainment out or just reading yours books, then this is for you.
On arrival, the hotel looks lovely. The main reception area is really nice. The staff are great and helpful.
Our room in the main building is very basic, but we had a sea view, and first thing in the morning, the sunrise over the mountains was spectacular. There was no English tv channels. No coffee making facilities. No toiletries. Bed was just ok. Air con was good. No safe..but avail at a charge at reception. Fridge.
Bedding changed couple of times in the week, but cleaned every day. Shower not the hottest.
Bars/ restaurants. There is only 1 bar open at any one time. Pool 10-1800 then lobby 1800-midnight. Bar staff are great especially lady at poolside. There is a beach bar and cocktail bar (extra cost) but was never open. Drinks are very basic AI. In plastic by pool and glasses in Lobby. No real cocktails tbh. Never any queueing though. Very basic snacks by pool for couple of hours.
Main restaurant serves buffet. Breakfast is pretty much the same everyday. Mix of hot and cold foods. Fresh pancakes were on only once. Lunch and dinner are OK. Always couple of chicken/pork dishes at least. Some days lamb, beef and salmon.lots of repetitive dishes too. Great if you like spaghetti bol, chips, pizza, salads..deserts nice. Serve yourself drinks including beer and wine. No table service. Often ran out of glasses, and late on for breakfast coffee machines would break down.
Pool area is clean and always sunbeds and umbrellas. No need to be pathetic and go down early with your towel. Any entertainment is around the pool. The young girls try to get you involved but not pushy, and it's not loud.
Beach is pebbly, like 90% of Greece, so take swim shoes. But just enough sunbeds, not sure how it'll be i busier times, but I think the hotel was pretty much full anyway. There is a smaller private beach where you have to pay extra for the beds. They were used just 1 day I saw. Water crystal clear. Take a mask to see the fishes.
Hotel shop is very expensive and small. Would suggest going to local town Petalidi early on and get some things for fridge. Set fee of 6 euro or 30 min walk. Dont go mid of afternoon though as everything closed.
Not really anything else close by, but recommend getting the bus to Koroni. About 45 mins and about 5 euros return. Lovely harbour, lots of tavernas, shops, beach, and castle and monastery. Bus goes from outside of hotel, but is notoriously late. Anywhere further you should get a hire car.
Kalamata airport is the smallest airport ever with no food/drink facilities in departures so prepare yourself. And no seating for the amount of people it gets.
There is virtually no nightly entertainment, with people entertaining themselves. Pack of cards is a good idea.
The hotel does what it does really well, but doesn't do much. But it's clean, generally quiet, basic and great for a week of tanning, swimming, reading, eating and drinking. Just don't go expecting anything fancy and you'll be happy."
