Laid-back lodgings in Kyparissia
Kyparissia Beach Hotel is charming from the word go – look no further than the shock of brightly coloured bougainvillea that’s taken over the outdoor terrace.
And did we mention the uninterrupted views of the Ionian that you’ll get from your poolside sun lounger? The marina is just across the road from the hotel, so be sure and make time for a boat trip during your stay, too.
Wander a little further from base camp and you’ll find everything else you need – a sandy beach, a slew of bars and restaurants, and buckets of Greek hospitality.

Find out more about Kyparissia
Spread across a hill that slopes towards turquoise waters, Kyparissia is a charming seaside town in Greece’s Peloponnese. It's just a short wander to Ai Lagoudis Beach, where palapas and sun loungers are set out across golden sands. A few kilometres up the coast is the longer and quieter but equally sandy Kartelas Beach, lapped by clear water.
On the slopes above the old town are the remains of an ancient Byzantine castle, the Castle of Kyparissia, also known as the Castle of Arcadia. Surrounded by cypress trees and greenery, you’ll get fabulous views of the sea and scenery from up here, and it’s a vantage point that helped previous occupants spot incoming pirates.
Kyparissia is a handy base for day trips to Kalamata (famous for its olives) and Olympia (which hosted the first Olympic Games). Balance your time delving into Greece’s history with reclining on the beach or beside the pool with a good book in hand. When dusk settles, linger outside to enjoy the sunset – Kyparissia’s west coast spot means it has a prime location watching the sun sink behind the sea.
