Sivota Holidays

Secret coves and coastal charm

With a helter-skelter coastline, a smattering of secret coves, and a couple of islands pitched up in the bay, Sivota is a quiet coastal village that packs a holiday punch. Expect to find long stretches of sandy shoreline, crystal-clear waters, and bags of local charm when you visit this corner of Greece.

Idyllic islands and the Ionian Sea

You can find some of the best beaches on the islands that lie just off the shore. Hop on a boat and head to Agios Nikolaos and you’ll be greeted with a powdery-soft white strip of sand, flanked by a lush thicket of greenery. As for the island of Mourtemeno, no boats necessary – it’s connected to the mainland with a bank of golden sand, and is home to a first-rate stretch of shoreline that slopes into calm, turquoise waters.

Thanks to its soft, sandy beaches and calm waters it’s a great pick for chilled-out family holidays. It is more of a subdued spot, but there are organised water sports on some of the beaches, so water babies will love it.
It’s less late bars more local tavernas around these parts. Expect plenty of Greek hospitality in the bars and restaurants, but if its nightclubs you’re after, you won’t find them in this sleepy coastal spot.
Totally up to you. If you’re planning on exploring inland or heading to Igoumenitsa then a car would definitely prove handy. If exploring off the coast is more your vibe, why not ditch the car and spring for a private boat tour instead?
Expect classic Greek eats and loads of flavour. Hotels will cater well for the international crowd but the offering in town is mostly local fare with the likes of cured meats, locally produced cheeses, and olive oil from the surrounding groves.
