Grecotel Casa Paradiso

"Location wise, you're about 30 mins taxi ride away from Kos town. Private transfers cost us €47 but a taxi flagged for the way home was half that. The beach is the star of the show for us with beautiful views. We were off to a bad start unfortunately, arrived late in the evening to a door that wouldn't lock. Complained to reception twice, then a technician was sent to fix it. We couldnt leave the room until this was finally sorted at 11.30pm and we were too tired. I think we got one of the 'run down' rooms. There was a drain smell and the room was smaller and in disrepair compared to my partners and his daughters. We upgraded to a part sea view room on the TUI app, but instead we got a view of buildings and the AC units! After complaining about this and requesting a room change, we were told there was no other rooms available and would have to check at 11am the next morning. I was in tears. The next day my partner went down and was then told to complain to TUI as there were no other rooms until 24th (we arrived on 21st). We phoned TUI and they spoke to the hotel and was told it would be the 24th before they could move us. We had to put up and shut up. So we tried to make the most of the holiday and keep out of the room as much as possible. The pools were good, kids enjoyed the slides. Food was nice, however I did find the odd hair in there which put me off a bit. Once we got moved to a better room, we were more at ease and able to unpack finally. 2 pool tables in reception, always busy and in use. You have to sit and wait for a turn. No arcade unfortunately, our teenage kids were bored the last few days when it rained. Buses are hit and miss, we couldnt get back home from Kos so ended up in a taxi. Would we come back here again, no. Would we recommend it...I suppose it depends what holiday you're looking for, I would say its more a 3* not 4. Having stopped in many family hotels abroad, this has been the least favourite for us personally. Staff are friendly, cleaners are in everyday. The accomodation is just a little more run down than were used to. Still managed a good few picture memories. I would recommend the one night booking at the restaurant! Change from the everyday all inclusive standard food."

"Great family holiday with kids 13 & 9 from 13th-20th October despite the weather. Lovely hotel in a quiet location. We stayed in room 338 in the main building. Nice to see fruit and veg grown on hotel grounds. Commercial areas all done to a nice standard as was our room. Both pools are lovely although we’re very cold but this didn’t stop my kids from going in, they also loved the water slides. Comfy sun loungers are at the top pool and it’s not as windy at this pool. They come round offering watermelon which I thought was a nice touch. My kids lovely the beach and the sea was warmer than the pool. We found the restaurant to have plenty of variety but not always to our taste and does get repetitive and can get extremely busy. Lots of food getting made freshly in from of you and I enjoyed the pasta section. We enjoyed the snack bar at the activity pool. Drinks were good at both bars, all cocktails make fresh to order but it gets very busy at the main bar in the evenings. We really enjoyed the à la carte meal but it gets very cold and windy down there so best to take a jacket. We didn’t experience any of the entertainment so can’t comment on that, Our room was cleaned and towels changed daily. All staff work extremely hard. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk to Marmari along a well lite road. We found Marmari to be quiet with not much opened maybe due to it being late in the season but we still managed to find somewhere for dinner and drinks. We got the bus outside the hotel to Kos Town and back. Lovely place and plenty of options for dinner and drinks and a walk along the harbour. Bus was 2 euro 50 per person and took about 30 minutes."
