"We stayed at this hotel for a week and a bit from the 2nd of September. When we arrived reception staff (particularly Poppy!) were so lovely and welcoming providing us with our key card and informing us of the timings for the all inclusive meals. She let us know that anything we needed just come to her and she could organise it for us, which was very appreciated.
I will say that’s check in is at 3 so they have a good luggage room to store your stuff in whilst you go out and have a drink by the pool bar or if you wanted to could have even changed in the toilets and gone outside to sit by the pool
Staff
Throughout the stay all the staff were very pleasant and friendly, especially the maids who work so hard and are always smiling. It was a nice touch that they make little arrangements with your towels (see pictures) although, this however only lasted for 3 days but was appreciated! I will say that yes sometimes the pool bar staff were just talking amongst themselves and it did feel a little bit like you were being ignored but this happened rarely and the girls who worked on it were very nice and they even come round to your pool chairs and collect in the cups to avoid rubbish piling up.
Other staff include the cute hotel cats! They were very friendly and roam about freely
The room
The room was good for two people, very clean and fresh upon arriving and the balcony door even had a bug screen so you could leave the door open without worrying about bugs getting into your room. It’s worth noting that the aircon unit will not turn on unless the balcony door is fully shut (great for the environment!) but we didn’t know this was the case at the time! The aircon units much like the rest of the hotel have a very modern feel to them with it being built onto the wall and not a hand held remote to turn on. There is also a mini fridge in the room which comes with one free bottle of water. It’s a good little fridge but can’t fit more than 3 or 4 at a push bottles of water in there and if you were to do that then there would be no space to put anything else in. It was also a little leaky and had a freezer at the top which was a little pointless as it was so small you couldn’t really put anything into it. There was a kettle in the room and cups which were very clean and no limescale in sight! The only downside to this for us was that there were no spoons or stirrers to mix your tea or coffee.
One complaint about the room would be that at times when it was busy the sewage is obviously more heavy and on occasion there could be a bad smell coming from the bathroom.
In addition, the walls are very thin and we could often hear the people next door to us when they flushed the loo or when they turned on their shower.
We were on the top floor with a pool view which we would recommend as it got a lot of sun whereas we know some of the garden rooms didn’t get any. However, I would say the hotel could benefit from providing guests a drying rack for towels and beach wear as if you hung them on the balcony it was quite windy and you could have items blown away or scattered on your balcony. Another downside was in the block we stayed in although it was only 2 or 3 flights of small stairs to get to our room it’s worth nothing that there was no lift. This wasn’t a problem for us but if you’re an older couple who struggle with stairs or even lifting a 25kg case up and down it could have been hard to do.
Because they are eco friendly there is no sign to put on the door to say do not disturb, instead there is a switch by your door you can press which lights up a light on the outside to show that you don’t want your room cleaned, which is great and very rec savvy but I think I’d prefer a paper sign to put up.
Breakfast lunch dinner and snack bar
Sometimes items in the buffet weren’t labelled and although this seem small because you could probably guess what it was, it would have made it very hard for someone with allergies to be able to tell if what they were eating was safe.
The selection for breakfast was as you would think it would be for an all inclusive, however we found that the fried eggs were a little bit on the runny side and could be a bit more well done.
Lunch was great and although the restaurant itself felt small there was always a good size selection and it never felt like I was eating the same thing every day. You can go up and pour the beer and wine yourself along with a selection of fizzy drinks.
Dinner was done well too, we actually only ate dinner here for one night, which was Greek night! (Dinner are themed and they have a little piece of paper up to say what day is what theme as you walk in) I must say that the souvlaki was the first bit of meat that I had from Kos that was actually cooked and not raw in the middle!
Re the snack bar, o thought it was pretty good, it had hotdogs, pizza, wraps, pasta with salad and fruit in pots (yes it was tinned) that didn’t really bother us, if you want fresh fruit you’re allowed to take it out of the restaurant at lunch time so I’ve seen some reviews complaining about the tinned fruit when really I’m not sure there’s a reason to?
I will say that the snack bar closed at 3, which I thought was very early compared to a lot of other hotels who keep theirs open for a bit longer, again it would be good if they were open to about 4:30 as it’s likely at that time people start getting hungry again.
Pool bar and drinks
The drinks for an all inclusive stay weren’t very good, the cocktail list was limited and none of them really tasted nice, it did also maybe feel like the beer was a little watered down? What was a bit shocking for me as someone who has gone all inclusive before is that unless you wanted a filter coffee (hot coffee) you were expected to pay extra for a cold one, this and the lack of selection of drinks is why this hotel is not 5 starts.
In addition, the drinks are often given to you in paper cups which isn’t great as it goes soggy and makes you feel like you have to drink your drink very quickly. Also, depending on the bar tendered would depend on what size paper cups you were given for your drink, so a few inconsistencies there.
Although there were no ‘pool wars’ as such to get sunbeds in the mornings I will say there were people up putting their towels out at about 7:30 each day, I would recommend that if you actually want a good spot by the pool with a table and an umbrella so you don’t feel like you’re basically touching the person on the sunbed next to you, that you do also wake up early to put towels down.
I believe the reception provided pool or beach towels if you were part of the all inclusive package but to be honest, I’m not sure why people don’t just bring their own towels? It’s much more hygienic.
Location
Location was good and only a 20 to 25 minute walk into the town and the marina and it was a straight line to walk. However, please be aware of the fact the pavement is shared with a bike lane which is so very annoying for people who are just trying to walk, very unsure why Kos council thought that this was a good idea as half the time it felt like the people on the bikes or scooters didn’t even know how to ride them, I would really recommend not getting a bike to hire and simply using your legs!
This is a hotel that’s advertised as close to the beach but the bit it’s close to are all owned owned by the beach front hotels like the Atlantis and they do not allow you to use their beach beds and umbrellas even if you were to offer to pay. You can however sit on the hard stones on the floor with no shade if that’s something you fancied. The public beach where you can buy sunbeds is a 15 minute walk away from the hotel."
