Avithos Resort

"Just returned from Avithos Resort in Kefalonia. The hotel itself is lovely — clean, well‑kept and set in beautiful surroundings — but there is a big downside that guests should be aware of. The nearest restaurant, bar or supermarket is at least a 25‑minute walk away, which is far from ideal for families, anyone with mobility issues, or anyone who simply doesn’t want a long walk every time they need something. The hotel bar serves a very limited menu, and both food and drinks are expensive for what’s offered. The biggest disappointment was the hotel closing the entire pool and bar area for half a day due to a photo shoot. When I asked why guests weren’t informed, I was told there was a small sign at reception and that guests were expected to “understand the inconvenience.” For a resort of this standard, that level of communication and consideration is simply not good enough."

"So impressed with our stay at Avithos. For the price you’re paying for Greece ( I would argue this is reasonable compared to others), and the quality of the hotel, this resort exceeds all expectations! The hotel staff were so lovely, in particular the bar and breakfast ladies! I’ve seen below someone comment on rude bar people - we didn’t experience this at all. I did however experience customers being rude to them which is maybe why they were a bit grumpy back. It felt very peaceful and simple, but done well. The pool area is immaculate, the pool always felt so clean, the grounds always kept tidy. Location- this was our first time in Kefalonia and decided to stay south as we had a young toddler. We had a car and I think you’d struggle without a car unless you just wanted to stay in the hotel and go to the close proximity restAurents. I found the area quite sleepy and slow but nothing wrong with that, I grew to love it! Must go to Avithos beach (5 min drive-20/30 min walk)- so relaxing and beautiful! Food- breakfast was delicious, and so was their bar snack menu. Very kid friendly but also lots of couples, so as long as you’re aware of that! They do advertise as a family hotel. Only minor negative if I had to be picky was the room. The bed me and my husband had was 2 singles pushed together which was slightly annoying as a gap would wedge open each night. Rooms always cleaned very nicely everyday though! Thank you for a lovely stay and holiday ."

"I wouldn’t say this is more like a 3 star resort! The only person that was friendly was the blonde lady behind reception Christine! When we arrived late on Monday we had to lug our cases upstairs to our room the lady that checked us in couldn’t be bothered and said come back in the morning for a map! The room was small but more worrying full of damp patches room 201 When I went to ask about keeping our room on or a late check out the lady (again dark hair) was on a call had me wait and didn’t even end the call to her friend but basically cut me short and said no! She was rude The bar staff don’t look very happy and you bearly get a look let alone a thank you I wouldn’t recommend this resort nor would I return You really need to sort out your receptionist and the marks in the room!"
