Kalypso Hotel

"Lovely small hotel.We had a spacious room with lots of storage space for our clothes.Air con worked wonderfully,and a safe was available on request,free of charge.Our balcony was a decent size,and it was lovely to sit out there with a glass of chilled wine,reading or listening to the cicadas.The bathroom too was adequate,and we managed not to flood it,which is a bonus.Everything was kept really clean by the hard working ladies. Breakfast was more than adequate,but my only criticism is that items could have been refilled more often. Please enjoy hotel and say hello to the cute little black and white cat,also named Kalypso!"

"As we decided to stay overnight in Poros we booked in at the last minute . This hotel, facing the sea, has been recently refurbished and is a very high standard 2 star. Our room was simply but tastefully furnished with a lovely modern en suite . The breakfast room is very attractively decorated and the breakfast selection includes both Greek and English dishes. Staff were very friendly. The balcony looked straight out to sea where we witnessed a beautiful sunrise. We will definitely stay here again!"

"First, don't be fooled by the photograph which suggests the hotel has a pool. They use the same photo on the TUI website. The photo is of a pool bar about 2 minutes walk from the hotel and is fine for lying around the pool, getting drinks and food from a decent menu. You will need to budget 10euros per day for an umbrella and two sunbeds and it is best to book as this pool bar is used by people from a number of hotels and self catering places. As for the Hotel Kalyspo, for a 2* hotel it is basic but really very good. The hotel is very clean including the rooms and we found the accommodation to be very comfortable. Breakfast is served between 8 and 10 and provides for all tastes from a pseudo all- English through continental and Greek dishes. The hotel opens out onto a road, a pebble beach and the sea and makes for beautiful views. The patio we had on the ground floor was ideal for eating an evening meal. There is a supermarket about 15 minutes walk from the hotel to buy supplies, if like us you like a cheese and wine evening on the patio. The hotel staff are very friendly, helpful and go out of their way to ensure one has a comfortable holiday. There are a number of excellent tavernas, a cocktail bar and an excellent ice cream shop which also has a wonderful selection of sweet dishes all within 10 minutes walk from the hotel. We ate out most nights and were not disappointed with any of the tavernas we used. I would however particularly recommend "To Korali" for the quality of the menu and drinks. It is also easy to walk to the harbour where trips to Zakynthos and Ithica can be booked at reasonable cost. We travelled with TUI and its worth noting that there was no TUI rep at the hotel for all of our stay. If you are looking for peace and tranquility Poros is an ideal spot, if you are a party animal then best look elsewhere."
