"We had an early (5am) flight from Manchester, which was on time, then a taxi transfer, so arrived around lunchtime. No-one was around so I wandered up some stairs and found a gentleman doing some building maintenance, this turned out to be Peter the father of Alexander. After a call from Peter, Alex arrived quickly and showed us to apartment #1. Compact, clean and with the most amazing large balcony overlooking the harbour. He said as we was staying a long time he would swap us to a larger apartment the following Saturday. The only slight downside was the minute bathroom. It was extremely small, not even a shelf for your toothbrushes etc and had a shower curtain which fought back. However, we managed.....the water was always hot and the bathroom was cleaned daily (apart from Sunday), but on a Saturday she left 2 lots of towels to see us through to Monday. The cleaning lady was amazing, did a proper thorough job and even provided an iron (with the use of Google translate to get from English to Albanian) and left it with us all holiday. This was handy as we made regular use of the automatic washing machine on the veranda on the next floor, we took our own washing pods. The Aircon is free of charge which was a godsend when we got further into the 25 days and things heated up. The environmental tax was €2/day which we paid in cash on arrival. It's an uphill long walk up to the hotel to use the pool but if you call Alex, using the phone next to the stairs someone will drive down and pick you up,they will also take you down to the square in the evening. The view from the pool is simply out of this world and there is a bar serving beer, coffee and snacks. The temperature of the pool is gorgeous and I had no problems finding a sunlounger. We hired a car from the hotel, very reasonably priced and very little hassle arranging, even kept it for extra days with simply an email to Alex.
Poros itself is a gem of a small town, our favourite restaurant was on the harbour, never had a bad meal. When we had the car we drove into Argostoli a couple of times to stock up at Lidl but the supermarket on the harbour supplies most things you would need and the butchers in the square "Solomos" provided the most amazing meats - we did cook a few evenings and ate on the balcony. One evening, the over hob extractor fused all the electrics and Peter fitted a brand new one the next day - faultless service. The view from the balcony watching the ferry come and go, the catamarans and super yatchs with a glass of wine was so relaxing. So, all in all, a lovely time had. Would we return, hell YES. Advise I would give......bring mozzie spray, (they were rampant), beach shoes (local beach is stoney), suncream and a healthy appetite."
