Ikones Seafront Luxury Suites

"Ikones Hotel Visit We booked a x10 days holiday at this x5 star resort. I did mail the reception in advance as my wife has stage x3 cancer a serious heart condition and treatments for skin cancer recently all after sorting her mums estate after her death recently, so our expectations were maybe that we might get some small upgrade or special room to soften all that stress. This sadly did not happen but the room was adequate considering their x5 star rating. Some staff were really nice as that has always been our previous experience in Greece in the past however we found only a handful of these at this resort that seemed they wanted to please or show real interest, this became more evident as our time went on. Sadly for all guests staying the weather took a turn for the worst with major storms and travel restrictions including x4 government warnings not to go out and about but no mention of this back at the hotel. Once the weather cleared unfortunately as my wife’s immune system is compromised she picked up food poisoning from the bar food and suffered for x5 days plus, in fact we both came back with some minor issues still. We were understandably told not to go to the restaurant but no help or advice other than that. I also picked up the same issue and on one occasion i ordered room service to be greeted by staff wearing face masks, issue what issue we were told….We arrived at breakfast once able only to be shown the hand gel dispenser not visible before, issue what issue…. Avoid rooms 329/328 as they appear to be below the kitchen so from 04:30 onwards until 07:00 opening there is lots of preparation sound that transmit through the floor. We had a funny experience with being locked out of our room safe which it turns out are not attached to anything, I got some strange looks when as we were due out for a meal I suggested bringing it down to reception to fix, it got sorted in our room but they missed the point about it not being attached to the wall in our wardrobe. Overall once the weather changed and we could get up and out the old town was full of restaurants and we found some favourites. The hotel however we will not be back to for most of the issues mentioned above and the complete lack of guest information especially if you are not from a preferred country in Europe. We never saw the main pool cleaned and it got more murky as the time went on. Anyway that’s our personal point of view and experience of the Ikones Suites in Crete for now. Special mention however to Sofia on reception for all her help and interest and Irena the room cleaning lady who although did not speak English was just lovely and understanding."

"A fantastic destination with an optimal location to discover all the highlights in the west of Crete. Great attention to detail and very professional. The food is always impeccable with a large selection for every palate. I highly recommend it. In particular, the spa should also be part of the vacation: Eleannna and Nicol do such a great job and a massage crowns the relaxation. The beach is also very nicely designed with service and comfortable loungers. I am here for the second time already and think the third time's the charm 😉"

"Spa and massage : I had a facial treatment today at the spa with Nicole and Elenna . I must honestly say that I am very disappointed that the treatment was supposed to include a Kobido massage but it was absolutely not one . I am a beautician myself and have experienced Kobido massage several times, it was a few stroking movements but nothing more . The girls are very friendly though. A tip for you : please only offer the things that you really master well, that way you can avoid such surprises . If I had known that I would have chosen a different treatment , a pity 😉"
