Aristea Hotel

"Great location, very clean, modern rooms, lovely breakfast, some staff were very friendly. However.....we booked via TUI and despite requesting (unable to reserve) a sea view quiet room we were allocated a noisy room with a view of the bar. Our room was immediately adjacent to the bar, reception and the dining room. We couldn't get to sleep until around midnight when the bar music was turned off, woke around 5am when staff came in and again around 8-9am when breakfast was starting. Not a restful holiday. No privacy from the balcony which opened straight out to the bar. Despite advertising themselves as "inclusive" there was no adjustments offered for my 15yr old daughter with autism. When we asked to change rooms we were advised the hotel was full. We/TUI asked 3 times to change rooms and were told "no". No smile, no apology, no effort to compensate us or accomodate our needs. TUI offered us a pointless £50 TUI voucher but at least they apologised. There are a couple of really nice hotels round the corner on the seafront which were much nicer. Overall the hotel was very disappointing but perhaps we would have had a better experience with a better room allocation...."

"Me and my friend came to this hotel for a week and absolutely loved it. We stayed in a suite with sea view, one of the renovated rooms - it was amazing. The only downside would be the amount of storage space, but we made it work. The location was perfect. It was quiet in the area in the best way, €1.20 for the bus into Rethymno which took maybe 10 minutes max. We usually walked back at night which was around 30 minutes along the seafront - a really nice flat walk. There were sunbeds along the beach too, a lot of them around 10€ for a pair. There was a local shop across the road, bakeries at the top of the street and also a supermarket and a few restaurants a few min walk. There wasn’t many sunbeds around the pool with it being a smaller property, but the pool was usually quiet and always some available! We found we were the only people at the pool sometimes. All the staff were incredibly friendly, everywhere was clean. The food and drinks in the hotel were really good prices too! We would absolutely recommend this hotel again, it was such a lovely time."

"We were put into a room 117 which was ok but due to a disturbing neighbour retching all night and morning we asked if we could possibly move. Vi vi (think her name) on reception was amazing and with Vicky moved us to 104. This room was so much more modern and as I slept in the lounge the sofa bed was more comfortable.Nice shower rather than the bath and shower we did have.Best to ask if want a more modern room. The whole place was clean and staff friendly and helpful especially Vicky . The only real downside was the the door knobs very hard to open and very noisy especially if sharing. Also the pool was checked another guest mentioned but it wasn't cleaned as far as we could see.The tiles were slippy and dirt in the cracks on the bottom.It was bearable as in temperature but obviously would be warmer as the season went on.Area was really good for bars and restaurants and right by the sea. A 2 * but could be more and a bit pricey for a 2 but was very well kept and looked after. Would be much better as a adult only as a lot of older guests there and when some kids arrived jumping in the pool it really wasn't suitable. Would come again if adult only"
