Matzi Hotel Apartments

"This amazing place was so peaceful! The staff were very friendly and helpful. They did the best to serve us ,they booked taxi for us every time needed and they gave us a lot useful advice. Was very clean, also is located on the sea side! I sow sea turtles!"

"On arrival at our apartment late at night, a note was left on the reception door to advise us of our room number advising us that the key was in the door of the apartment. We then went looking for the apartment which we found. On entry to the room which was to be fair nice and clean, we could not put the air con on as we had to obtain the handset from reception which we were unable to do until the morning. We therefore had to leave the patio door wide open as it was extremely hot. In the bathroom, we had to hang the shower curtain away from the toilet and there was no space in between and there was no room to manoeuvre. We awoke in the morning to find we had been bitten by mosquitoes all over our bodies. We went to reception in the morning and were advised that we had to pay €20 tax, which was fine and then €152 for the air con and safe key which had to be paid in cash. When we questioned why was it so expensive, the owner advised that EasyJet didn’t pay enough for the room so they had to make the money up. In the kitchen area, we had two hot plates, one the size of a side plate and one the size of a tea cup. There was a refrigerator, a kettle and a coffee machine. You could not have made a meal with the equipment supplied. Whilst the actual pool was nice, the area around it was not. The tiles had obviously moved at some point creating a gap and difference in the tile levels all around the pool which was quite dangerous but we managed to manoeuvre without incident. The owner of the hotel was very helpful in getting taxis for us to get around the area but could be somewhat blunt in her demeanour. Overall we were really disappointed with this holiday and on our final day we were allowed to leave our cases in a locked cupboard and keep our passports and all documents with us as there was no room to get ready to leave for the airport later that night so we sat around the pool from 12 lunchtime until 9 o’clock in the evening waiting for our taxi back to the airport. We should have read the reviews about the Matzi apartments on Trust Pilot which mirrored our disappointment. We have been on many holidays with EasyJet over the years but this last one was absolutely dreadful, not what we expected at all."

"Quiet area, suitable for couples, families with children who want a quiet stay. Nice pool area and garden, short distance to the beach. We had a 3 bedroom apartment with two bedrooms and kitchen/sitting room. There was a toilet and a shower. In both rooms. A little stupid with a shower curtain and little to put things on. The beds were ok and it was reinhold kvar day with new hand clothes. The kitchen was poorly equipped but had cutlery, coffee makers and kettles, 2 hot plates. A baking pad and a ause. Speaker and glass. Listen a little. There was a balcony on both the bedrooms and the kitchen, so we had sun all day. Sea view on the one. There was a lot of noise from the sea, there was a lot of wind and big waves when we were there. But splendid views and nice morning sun. We had to pay 8 euros per towel to borrow for the sunbeds. And extra for air conditioning. There were no mattresses on the sunbeds. The reception was open during the day. There you can get to buy soda, ice cream etc. The bus costs about 2 euros from the hotel to platanias. But the taxi costs it 12 euros. There was a bakery 5 minutes up in the street where you could get the baguettes on. The restaurants in the area do not open until 5 p.m. but occasionally open the nearest at 1 p.m. and close at 5 p.m. Otherwise the staff was friendly. The hotel is 2+ but I think it's a 3. It was supposed to host a snack bar there. We used to buy lunch at the hotel next to that heite Lito."
