Renaissance Hamburg Hotel

"Shame on the Marriott brand Spend 2 nights, during the early evening the dining is closed and the MICE are having a field day. I had breakfast early and I feel like vomiting ! And nobody care, probably is normal???"

"The hotel has a good location. The reception at the front desk was cold; the lady spoke/understood German poorly. We were astonished that at check-in, a deposit of €50 per day had to be made directly, a procedure we are not used to from other hotels. Our luggage was brought up to our room. The room was nice, large, and modern. The bathroom was unfortunately small. However, you should not look behind the curtains (see photos); shameful for a so-called 4-star hotel. The air conditioning was unfortunately loud, and the bathroom door rattled (door seal rubber is missing). The soundproofing to the hallway could be better. Unfortunately, you can hear the guests walking by very clearly. The breakfast was good, but offered no highlights. Conclusion: not 4 stars and too expensive."

"We booked this hotel for a stay in a suite and paid a hefty 460 euros per night for it. However, we are extremely disappointed. In our view, the property is absolutely not at the level of a 4-star hotel, but deserves a maximum of 3 stars. The list of defects is unfortunately long: The hotel seems old, worn out, and, to us, unclean. There was a very unpleasant, stinking, musty smell in the air both in the hallways and in the bathroom. The hallways are also much too dark. In the room itself, the bad impression continued: The furniture is visibly worn, the minibar was completely empty, and due to the heavy street noise, relaxation was hardly possible. The service also leaves much to be desired. We found the staff at the reception to be inattentive, taciturn, and not very hospitable. At check-in, a deposit of 150 euros was also surprisingly demanded, a procedure that we are not familiar with in this form from other hotels. The breakfast also offered poor value for money. The whole thing is topped off by an additional parking fee of 40 euros per day at the hotel; with a room rate of 460 euros per night, this is, for us, in absolutely no proportion to the overall service provided. We cannot recommend the Renaissance Hotel Hamburg in this condition under any circumstances and will definitely not return."
