Moxy Hamburg Altona

"A good hotel near one of the hotspots of Hamburg: the Ottensen quarter. Easy to reach by rapid transport (S-Bahn). Staff is friendly, seems to be a good team spirit. Breakfast holds food for vegan and vegetarian guests. Price is quite good relative to the location Hamburg."

"We really missed a small fridge in the room, besides that the room was fine except from the bed... It was the worst bed i have ever slept on. The beds are hard and the pillows are huge, so you almost break your neck using them. Aircondition didn't work and wifi was very slow. The staff was pretty nice, but i wouldn't go again."

"This is my second stay at a Moxy in Hamburg. First was Hamburg City, second Hamburg Altona. I also have to say that I am a huge Marriott fan. Matter of fact, I am a titanium member for many years. Due to corporate budget restrictions on business travel , I chose the moxy’s in Hamburg. I will not do so again. The hotel is really in no mans land. It’s not Altona. Maybe geographically, but totally misleading. And Moxy City is definitely not in the city. The owners bought up cheap territory somewhere. I asked for a 10am check in. Arrived very early and was happy to wait. 2 1/2 hours later, at 11:30am I asked for my room and was given one on the top floor. Standard size, looks ok. I am diabetic, so need to put my insulin into a fridge. They do not have fridges in the room anymore. This seems to be common practice in Germany at this class of hotels. 25h, Motel1 do the same. I find it actually a disgustingly cheap money saving exercise. Service levels are so low so you want to bring your own drinks, food. You can’t keep them cold. Never mind essential medication. Air conditioning does not work. You put the temperature at 24 or 18, it remains at 20. Day and night. On or off. Cheap Chinese hotels do that. I don’t expect an international brand in a global city to provide the same level of disservice. I am a 80kg, 192cm tall man. When I sit on the bed, I sink to the wooden frame of the bed. It’s cheap and flimsy. Same at the Moxy City. Staff are friendly and trying to do the best to deliver service (albeit understaffed and clearly undertrained) But the quality of the rooms is, in my opinion, although modern and new, unacceptable. I won’t choose Moxy again."
