"Impressive building that unfortunately had many flaws. First of all, the entrance situation is very impressive, but when the long escalator only works in one direction, it is not so great again. The first negative experience, however, was the completely incompetent staffing of the reception. Nothing really worked here, so the check-in alone took about 30 minutes. The rooms are relatively small and cramped with two small windows that cannot be opened. A visit to the bar in the evening after the concert was then the continuation of the negative experience due to completely disinterested staff. The breakfast was largely okay, but here too there were deficits in the competence of the staff. Conclusion: Interesting building with significant deficits in staff in all areas, but especially at the reception."

"We booked this hotel specifically because it advertised air-conditioning, which was particularly important during the late-July/early-August heat wave. When we arrived late in the evening, our room was extremely hot. We spent considerable time trying to operate the air-conditioning, but the instructions on the control panel did not correspond to what appeared on its screen. When we eventually called reception, we were told that the air-conditioning was not working anywhere in the hotel—and that it would not be repaired at any point during our four-night stay. What was most disappointing was that the hotel was already aware of the outage when we checked in, yet no one told us. Had we been informed before arrival, or even at check-in, we could have made other arrangements. Instead, we lost most of our first evening trying to solve a problem the hotel already knew could not be solved. By then it was nearly midnight, and we were too exhausted to find another hotel. Our room had two very small windows, only one of which opened, and no fan or cold water was offered. After an extremely uncomfortable night, we spent much of the following day finding alternative accommodation, packing, and relocating. As a result, we effectively lost a quarter of our short visit to Hamburg. Equipment can fail, and I would have been understanding had the hotel communicated openly and made a genuine effort to help. Unfortunately, the lack of advance warning, combined with the absence of even basic measures such as a fan or cold water, made the situation much worse. I hope the hotel will acknowledge how badly this affected our stay and offer appropriate reimbursement. Based on our experience, I could not recommend staying here."
