"We had booked this hotel awhile ago and really looking forward to staying at Hotel du Maine as this was my first time in Paris.
See below my points of concern:
First Issue:
The photos on Booking.com are very misleading. This Hotel does not reflect what the hotel appears to be.
Second Issue:
I arrived on Friday 10th August and I was very excited and looking forward arriving at the hotel and relaxing after my long journey.
However, the problems began when I checked in. There was lady covered in insect bites and the bites had caused an allergic reaction. She had been staying at the hotel du maine and warned me that the hotel has bed bugs. She was putting her points across with the reception gentleman. He didn't really give me any confidence that the hotel had bed bugs or not. I was feeling very uncomfortable at this point and all I wanted to do is to relax.
I ended up going to the pharmacy to buy bug spray and went to meet friends as I really was extremely worried about the bed bugs. As you can imagine I did not get any sleep and checking my body for bites, so it certainly wasn't a pleasant stay so far!!!
Third Issue:
In this day and age I would expect to be WiFi and shouldn't have any problems connecting. Every hotel I have been to has had WiFi as it is expected in everyday life.
At hotel du maine the WiFi this was none existed and couldn't connect in the room I was staying, which was really frustrating.
Fourth Issue:
After coming back to the hotel I decided to freshen up. The bathroom was very grotesque as there was evident of mould to be seen everywhere. Additionally, there was a pool of water everywhere after showering as it causes me to slip and nearly injure myself This is a health and safety issue.
Fifth Issue:
As every hotel I have visited I'd like to unpack. In this hotel everything stayed in my suitcase as I did not want any bugs on my items especially my clothing.
Sixth Issue:
I had to pack my stuff on Saturday 10th August as the room I was currently in was needed for a family. I had no issue with changing rooms.
When my friend arrived Jimmy reassured us that there were no bed begs. Our room was not ready, so we would need to check in later.
The problem again occurred when we came back to the hotel to check in and there was a different gentleman at the desk. He mentioned that he was the manager but he has now moved to night shift and Jimmy was a trainer. Again, very unclear what and who the management structure was or is....this was very confusing!!
Also, this nightshift so to be called manager or whoever his position was mentioned that there was bed bugs last week. Again, very inconsistent answered and no confidence and reassurance that there are no bed bugs in the hotel. Again, I had a sleepless night and couldn't wait to check out of the hotel the next morning. The bathroom was evident of mould and we couldn't put the fan on as it was nearly collapsing off the ceiling.
It’s been four days and still not heard back from management."
