Terrible Experience – Avoid This Hotel at All Costs
"We spent 3 nights at Hôtel Le Presbytère, and saying that our stay was disappointing would be a huge understatement. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The room was tiny. Although it was advertised as 16 m², it couldn’t have been more than 10 m² in reality. Two people cannot move around the room at the same time, and there is practically no space for luggage. The windows are very small and barely open. The air conditioning is poorly positioned and blows directly onto the bed and your head all night, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. The hotel has four floors, no elevator, and an extremely steep staircase. Climbing to the third or fourth floor feels like a serious workout. Anyone who is elderly, has mobility issues, or is simply not in good physical condition should stay far away from this hotel. There is no breakfast room whatsoever. The hotel offers breakfast delivered to your room, but since the room is so ridiculously small, there is literally nowhere to sit and eat comfortably. There is also no lobby—not even a small common area where guests can relax. The location was another major disappointment. At night, the street outside is filled with cheap bars, drunk crowds, and noise. Directly opposite the hotel there are homeless people sleeping on the street, making the area feel uncomfortable and far from the charming Parisian experience we expected. I cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances. Never again, and certainly not at any price."
Charm in an Excellent Location
"In April we stayed nine days at Hôtel Le Presbytère. We chose it for the location and the good reviews we read. We were not disappointed. The hotel sits in the Le Marais district, surrounded by cafe’s, shops and a variety of restaurants. For us the best feature was the location. A ten minute walk to the Seine, Notre Dame, Sainte Chapelle or to the Latin quarter. Maybe twenty minutes to the Louvre entrance. Less than that to the Picasso Museum. Thirty minutes to the Luxembourg Gardens which were very pleasant to relax in on a sunny day. Two Metro stops were within a few minutes walk to get further afield. Our room was a Deluxe Double, Room 200. It was roomy enough to be comfortable for our nine nights. It had a queen bed, desk, and table with 2 chairs situated in front of a large window. In fact, between the room and bathroom, which had a great shower, we had three large light filled windows. When open we could hear the cafe chatter from below and the occasional street musician. When closed, the room was virtually silent. Everything was well maintained and very clean. There is always an attendant in the office below and they were all friendly and helpful. From Miguel we obtained a list of recommended restaurants and were pleased with the meals we had at all the ones we tried. We opted for the breakfast tray each morning, delivered to the room at the time requested and offering plenty of rolls and croissants along with other options, fresh fruit, yogurt, ham, cheese, and eggs for an extra few euros. Whoever was on shift in the morning had the chore of caring a heavy laden tray up to the rooms via the spiral staircase. Which leads us to mention the staircase: there is no elevator. There are only a few rooms on each floor with the hotel reception on the first floor, that’s one flight up in Paris. Our room #200 was actually on the third floor, so we got to climb 3 flights up and down several times a day. There were two floors above us as well. At first we were daunted by the stairs ( we aren’t particularly young anymore). But we became accustomed pretty quickly and it just became part of our day. We are happy we chose to stay at the Hotel Le Presbytere and would definitely recommend it for your stay in Paris."
Perfect location
"A great little hotel nestled in the heart of Le Marais. Staff was helpful, and the room was nice, cozy, and clean. Beware the stairs though if you gave heavy luggages."
