Hotel Renova

"2 star basic hotel in a central location. This was the only hotel available due to a number of events in town. The first thing is the staff are very friendly especially the African guy at reception. He really made an effort. Also the security guy was helpful. The property is very basic and old interior. The hallways had a sewerage drain smell but not in the rooms. Towels and soap are provided. The place was generally clean. I would rate it like a hostel with private bathrooms. Im not sure I would recommend to a women travelling solo. No cameras are in the staircases that have 3 floors. It is a bit of a weird building quite isolated inside. The wifi was free and worked well. Sadly below opposite the hotel which is in a narrow street a late night bar is on everyday until 2am. It was very loud and I was kept awake until 2am. Very hard to get sleep and I was on the top floor. They maybe need to add triple glazed windows. There is a really nice Indian - Bangladeshi restaurant across from the hotel called Shaan Tandoori. I ate there twice and highly recommend it for around €20. I am not sure if I would stay here again it was out of my comfort zone in terms of standard. I would usually stay at the Ibis Styles properties and its well below that. As I said the staff really saved the place and one night the keycard stopped working and I was concerned as there is no reception after 8pm. Lucky security answered the main front door and had to also let me into my room. That made me a bit nervous. You could be locked out all night. If this place had a big refurbishment and 24 hour reception I might consider again."

"I stayed here for one night and was very satisfied. The hotel is a bit unusual, but it has its own charm. My room had an incredible view. Everything was clean and tidy, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of sockets. I will recommend it to my friends"

"I chose this hotel, mainly on the grounds of it's central location and the fact that it was about as cheap as one can get in Nantes at this time of year. On the plus side, the location is ideal; it is literally about 30 seconds walk from the main tram station, and is no more than quarter of an hour on foot to anything one would want to see or do in this city. That, however, is the only positive thing to be said about this hotel. The corridors are poorly lit and mouldy, whilst the walls in my room were badly marked. The room I took also looked as if it was in the middle of being reorganised (table and chairs in the middle of the floor?!?). I imagine this hotel might be the local council's dumping ground, as the room next door to mine was occupied by some very undesirable-looking woman, and there was a lot of noise going on both late at night and early in the morning (the soundproofing was pretty nonexistent). That said, however, the staff were friendly and helpful, and you really couldn't get a more conveneint location. If all you want from a hotel is somewhere to sleep at night and have a bath, then this is more than satisfactory, but not one for those who like the luxuries in life. Hotel Renovation might be a more apt name!"
