Hotel Mercure Cannes Mandelieu

"We’re staying in the hotel now - a large party of over 10 people. Despite there being 3 people working and no customers waiting they won’t serve us anything in the bar. Apparently no one has been hired to work there. The hotel is full and no one can but a drink or water from the bar. It’s a pretty bad experience. Would not come back I’m afraid."

"Unfortunately, our stay at the Mercure hotel in Cannes was very disappointing and absolutely not worth the price we paid. We spent around €700 for one night, yet the experience felt very basic and far below expectations for a hotel charging this amount. The room itself was ordinary, with almost no amenities. Only shower gel and hand soap were provided. There were no extra items such as a shower cap, body lotion, slippers, or anything special. We received only two towels for two people and one bottle of water. After housekeeping cleaned the room the next day, the water was not replaced. The breakfast was also very limited and disappointing — mainly bread, croissants, and a small selection of charcuterie. For such an expensive hotel, we expected much more variety and quality. Another important issue is the location. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, and during busy periods like the Cannes Film Festival, it becomes extremely difficult to find a taxi to go into the city or return to the hotel. As for the staff, they were simply average. We barely saw anyone apart from someone at the lobby, so there was no real hospitality experience. What shocked us most was when we went to the lobby asking for water because there was none left in the room. A staff member took a bottle from somewhere and filled it directly with tap water before giving it to us. This felt very unhygienic, especially because guests drink directly from those bottles and we could not know whether the bottle had been properly cleaned beforehand. Overall, this hotel is extremely overpriced for what it offers. Sadly, there was nothing memorable or luxurious about the experience, despite the very high cost."

"The hotel is in a quiet industrial area, a short distance from the coast and near Cannes airport. The hotel is, however, quite attractive and modern with a spacious reception and bar area with the restaurant being also fairly open plan. The rooms were clean and spacious, though a little warm. The a/c didn’t seem to make much difference. Breakfast was varied and of good quality and the staff were all lovely and very helpful. You need an Uber to get into Cannes unless you want a fairly long walk- usually about €12. Has a swimming pool but that was closed for the winter."
