"We recently returned from a three-night stay at the Titanic Palace and Aqua Park from March 19th to 22nd, travelling as a large group of 35 British Indians, including 28 adults and 7 kids. Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly mixed, leaning much more towards the negative. While the resort boasts some fantastic facilities, the shockingly poor service and generally bland food cast a dark shadow over our holiday.
Our trip started on a disappointing note at the main Cleopatra restaurant's seafood night, where the food was incredibly tasteless. In fact, the only thing that stood out for most of our group was the pears at the dessert station. Breakfasts were equally repetitive day after day, saved only by the live omelette, pancake, and fresh orange juice stations, along with some decent beef bacon. Lunch at the beach restaurant was acceptable, and we enjoyed the weekend lunch highlights like the fried chicken and fish in oyster sauce, as well as the pasta bar. However, when I say the food was acceptable, it is only when compared to the poor standard we experienced elsewhere in the resort; it fell far short of any other all-inclusive we have visited.
Trying to book the à la carte restaurants was an incredibly frustrating experience. We were repeatedly told they were fully booked in the mornings, yet when we walked past or dined there, we saw plenty of empty tables. When 25 of us finally got into the Italian restaurant at Titanic Beach, the food was a major letdown. The "seafood pizza" turned out to be a basic margherita with exactly one prawn placed on each slice, and the rest of the menu was completely bland, save for the beef medallions. Conversely, the 10 members of our group who dined at the Indian restaurant had a wonderful culinary experience. The chef was incredibly accommodating, taking the time to make special, authentic curries that were genuinely delicious.
Sadly, the service and the way we were treated by several staff members left us feeling targeted and discriminated against, whether due to our group size or our skin colour. At the Indian restaurant, despite the amazing chef, the waiter actually went around to other tables apologising for our presence, even though the other guests told us they had absolutely no issue with us being there. The management at the Mongolian grill, where the food was arguably the best of the trip, was extremely aggressive. The manager shouted at us repeatedly when we asked to pull up chairs for friends who just came over to say hello, and later yelled at one of our group who had been waiting 20 minutes for chicken to be restocked at the grill. While he was all smiles and conversation with other tables, he approached us only once with a stony face.
The bar staff were equally rude. The evening bartender at the main lobby bar was incredibly short and dismissive with the men in our group if we took even a second to order, despite there being no queue, yet he had all the patience in the world for white guests and the women in our party. The absolute lowest point occurred at the Titanic Beach lobby bar at around 1:30 am on Friday night/Saturday morning. After ordering four bottles of water to take to our rooms, a friend asked for two more while the bartender was still at the fridge. Because we interrupted him being on his phone, he started aggressively shouting at us, demanding to know why we didn't just order six in the first place. It is completely unacceptable to be yelled at by staff at an all-inclusive for requesting water.
Despite these glaring issues, the resort does have some redeeming qualities when it comes to activities. The aqua park was a hit with the kids and adults alike, featuring a good number of slides and a fun wave pool, though it could benefit from more frequent wave sessions. We also made great use of the paddle courts, which were of an excellent standard and became a massive highlight where we spent hours playing. We enjoyed the water polo setup in the main pools, the games room with its arcade and PlayStation, the kids' disco, and the shisha area where we were grateful the staff put the Premier League and Manchester United games on for us. The indoor disco was also a brilliant night out, thanks to a DJ who happily played our requests. However, the absolute pinnacle of our stay was the spa. The masseuse and masseur were phenomenal, and our whole group was deeply appreciative of their skills.
Overall, food and service are non-negotiables at an all-inclusive resort, and Titanic Palace failed miserably on both fronts. As someone who usually tips generously, the fact that I only felt compelled to tip the spa staff speaks volumes about the overall treatment we received. Aside from the spa team, the Indian restaurant chef, and the respectful reception manager to whom I raised these complaints, no one went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would struggle to recommend this resort based on the hostility and poor dining we experienced."
