"If you want to have an authentic experience, this is the place to stay. Ibrahim, the Egyptian-Canadian owner will bend over backwards to be of assistance. He is passionate and will tell you the story of the neighbourhood or even take you for a stroll around. If he is not around ask for Jacob, his nephew. All of the staff is incredibly friendly and will serve you delicious breakfast and dinner ( all included) with a smile. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the Khan Al- Khalili Bazaar. Make sure you go out for a walk after dinner. The streets around the hotel are bustling and safe. You will see real people, not just tourists!"

"I stayed one night at Gamaleya and am so glad I did. The hotel is beautiful and in an incredible location in the heart of Old Cairo. But even better were the staff, who were so helpful and kind. When I realized I had left my glasses in my room after checking out, they looked into options for getting them to me, and when I booked a courier, they kindly communicated with both him and me to have him pick them up. I'm very grateful to say that I got them delivered to me in another city before I flew out of Egypt. The staff also helped me pick out a couple of rugs on the morning I checked out.
