Reception
"First of all the reception team, there's a very rude guy who is trying to only gain money not actual guest, his attitude is so harsh how can he be a receptionist? The room is lack of facilities as its the average price it has to at least contain slippers/ tissues/ kettle Nothing! After staying for like 4 or 5 days I asked the receptionist to have a late c/out till 2 which is literally free in any other hotel upon availability(there was no one but me at the hotel) i work in tourism and ik it he said no, it will be extra charged (mostly half the rate) lol, till 2 not even 5 or 6, I stayed at another hotel before this one and this is literally just a disturbing experience"
No Ambience here just dirt and deception - avoid at all costs!
"1/5 is extremely generous in terms of reviewing this ‘hotel’. We had requested a taxi from the hotel as promised by the hotel from the airport to the hotel but this never arrived!! Top tip use UBER in Cairo the drivers are brilliant and we managed to make our way to downtown Cairo in 40 minutes no thanks to the failure of the hotel. Retrospectively this was a sign of things to come! The hotel is poorly signposted and the driver couldn’t find it and when we did it was up several flights of stairs. The look of the lifts did not give confidence and there was no-one on reception downstairs to confirm this was the correct building or that the hotel resided within it! Checking in seemed strange in that all our documents were taken and photographed with plenty of paperwork to complete in ink so take a couple of pens. In other hotels they already have your book by details so why we were completing this again goodness knows. Cash only payment in dollars - another warning! The room was one with a double bed and a single bed, a tiny bathroom and air conditioning. The room itself was dirty, in a poor state of repair, dirty stained additional quilted bedding and two mismatched grey fleece throws on the bed as ‘bedding’. One of the two hand towels had bugs which had died on them. The bathroom was small with barely enough room to sit on the toilet without banging your knees on the wall, filthy shower room and as we found out the next day cold! I asked the man on reception for soap as there was nothing to wash our hands with on arrival. The language barrier was a tough one but even the universal sign for washing hands surely should have helped. Instead we were given mink oil infused shampoo and conditioner combined sachets. There were no towels to have a shower which we had to ask for. I cried as this has been sold as a bijou property, beautiful rooms, excellent customer care in the heart of Cairo. We had to leave just to get some air and a couple of hours later on our return the chap presented us with some hand soap which is why there is one star as really this place deserves none. The shower was cold in the morning and I was all for checking out then but we had a packed itinerary so minimal time would be spent in the room. My partner had breakfast which was swimming in grease, cooked on a filthy twin hob stove in the reception hall. I couldn’t eat and in fact didn’t during our stay surviving on bottled water until lunchtime on our travels. We were told that we would have to leave our key so they could fix the shower - explaining that it was cold was exhausting. However our room was mysteriously cleaned the next day without us needing to leave our key?? Also we had to keep asking for the basics like toilet paper and a towel. Also after one of our long days exploring Egypt, as soon as we arrived back in the hotel, they wanted us to change our room saying we were in the wrong one. We explained that we were already settled and would not be changing. Again warning signs and seeing the reviews at the same time of our stay it all made sense. On the final day I double checked that I had a paid invoice for the booking. The chap had to go across town to print a copy as I needed it for accounting. So no printer or receipt process. They also wanted to give us a free car to the airport. We had already pre-booked our Uber and politely refused. Next they wanted to cancel our booking saying that their account had been closed with Booking.com and they wanted to use my partner’s phone to do it. I asked them why would Booking.com cancel their account and they gave some unsatisfactory waffle saying they wanted us to say we had cancelled our booking even though we had paid so they could restart their account. The situation was looking desperate from the hotel’s side as they appeared panicked and tried to intimidate my partner into handing over his phone which he refused. With our Uber thankfully waiting I politely explained that we had to leave and we would look at their request later. Motto: Avoid this hotel at all costs - one big scam!"
