"The location of the hotel is perfect, you are literally close to everything. The team at reception, in the breakfast room - all always motivated and positive. So everyone is making an effort. The hotel itself however, is in a bad state - nobody has invested here for a long time. Old carpet, torn furniture. The shower was dripping 24/7. We then asked for a new room, the showing was dripping again. Both rooms had very noisy bathroom ventilation you could not switch off. Perhaps these things are not important to you, then the hotel is perfect. For the price you pay per night, we found it too run down. "

"Spoiler alert: do not book a room - what you get might be very different to what you expected We were very lucky with the weather in Copenhagen, looking towards the big terrace in the President Suite we booked on hotels.com. To our surprise, when entering the room we noticed something was not right - the room looked as in the photos except for the lack of the terrace - there were only two tiny balconies resembling French ones, no larger than one square meter each. The lady at the front desk upon hearing our complaint, exclaimed “I know what happened - you must have booked via hotels.com. At our hotel, there are two types of rooms - one with a big terrace and a few others without the terrace but they both belong to the same presidential category, so the room you’re after is occupied and there is nothing I can do.” Needless to say, my argument that the hotel’s internal categorization does not interest me, I simply want a room of the same type I booked - the one with the terrace (big enough for a table for four and two daybeds), did not affect the lady at the front desk. Even showing hotels.com website where there clearly were two room categories - Suite President and Palace Suite with slightly different prices - didn’t make a difference. In my desperation, I decided to go all Karen and upon her proposal that I can contact her manager, that’s what I did. To my even bigger surprise, when calling the number on the business card, the person answering (you guessed!) was the same lady at the front desk. She said the best way to contact her manager was to email him because he decided to call it a day at four o’clock. Again needless to say that my mail remained unanswered. What is most shocking to me is not the mix-up at hotels.com - mistakes happen. What was shocking was that Scandic was aware of the mistake and did not try to rectify it, nor did it have a procedure in place to compensate the scammed customers (that’s how I felt - scammed - having paid for a big terrace on a sunny day). The higher management was not present. A big red card for the Scandic chain. Do not book this hotel, who knows what surprises you will encounter. Other: lavatories on - 1 level are dirty and stink. The breakfast is good."
