Historic stay in central Prague
When it comes to locations, it doesn’t get much better than the U Prince Hotel. It’s snagged a spot smack bang in the middle of the city’s Old Town about a minutes’ walk from Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock. Five minutes’ walk in one direction will put you in the Jewish Quarter, while five minutes in the other will have you on the iconic Charles Bridge.
And then there’s the hotel itself. Historical feels like a bit of an understatement – it dates back to the 12th century and certain parts of the building are classed as a World Heritage site. You can expect expertly curated interiors that fit with the building’s history – think exposed stonework, antique furnishings and gorgeous parquet floors fit for a stately Czech home of time gone by.
This place boasts two restaurants – both of which are favoured by locals and tourists alike, so you can expect great things. The lively main restaurant sits on the ground floor, decorated in the same classic style as the rest of the hotel, with an outdoor terrace that eyes the Astronomical Clock. The real star of the show though, is the rooftop bar and grill that comes with a stellar view – and a pretty good cocktail menu, too. Rounding out the offering is the swanky New York Cocktail Bar, and the Black Angel Bar, the latter of which is squirreled away in the basement, making it the perfect spot for an intimate drink.
