Hotel Leon D'Oro

"Anyone looking for something special will love this hotel. The blend of fine furniture, statues, and cozy, plush decor in the lobby creates a magnificent photo backdrop and radiates pure Italian charm. We stayed here for the Puccini Festival (and even met the star tenor at the great breakfast!). The service is exceptional: for a family member's birthday, the team lovingly prepared champagne and a huge fruit platter in the room prior to our arrival based on our organization and request – an absolutely successful surprise that we had commissioned! Despite minor shortcomings in some of the rooms, the stay is a true experience. We will definitely be back this year!"

"It’s a beautiful hotel which was very grand. Huge wide corridors and very large rooms made for quiet undisturbed sleep. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the train and bus station- but this means it’s a 15/20 minute walk to the amphitheater and heart of Verona. We would stay again when next there."

"This was a great place to stop for a reasonable price. It's a 10 minute walk to the main shops and restaurants but a stones throw away from the train and bus stations. The hotel has a great relaxed atmosphere. Some may say that it's a little dated but that more casual feel suits me fine. The bar staff especially Emilian, where excellent, friendly, very professional and tolerant of my rubbish beginners Italian! "Salve Emilian, due Aperol Spritz, per favore"! Breakfast was excellent, everybody was catered for. Don't expect a UK style full English, they do offer a variation but it's with pancetta and German style sausage, scambled egg etc. Spread your wings and try the other delicious alternatives. The fresh cakes grabbed my attention. It was also lovely to be greeted by the very glamorous Precious everyday, she made us feel very welcome. How Precious remembers guests room numbers, I will never know. The rooms were very clean and had fresh linen everyday. Great bath and shower too. I enjoyed the bottles of complementary water. I could hear the road noise a little but it didn't bother me at all. The amenities in general were very good. The air conditioning was great in 40c heat. Anything you don't have, ask at reception, they are very friendly. My only negative was the food in the hotel restaurant, I would describe it as average at best. I felt the price for the food and wine were a little expensive. I was tired one evening and only ate here once."
