"Extremely Disappointing Experience – Terrible Reception Service
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Fairmont Prague. Despite the beautiful rooms and excellent restaurant service, the reception staff and management completely ruined the experience with their incompetence, lack of responsibility, poor communication, and incredibly slow service.
I needed to accommodate a small group of VIP guests — just 8 rooms for 2 nights. I arranged and paid for everything in advance, including accommodation, breakfast, city tax, and all additional charges. Fairmont repeatedly assured me that everything had been taken care of, that my VIP guests would not have to pay for anything themselves, and that the check-in process would be quick and seamless.
Unfortunately, nothing went as promised.
When we arrived, the check-in process took more than an hour. One of the rooms had not even been booked with breakfast, despite my having arranged everything in advance. As a result, one of my VIP guests had to wait 20 minutes while I waited for the hotel to send me a payment link for breakfast. The reception staff were also incredibly rude and unprofessional when communicating with me.
To make matters worse, every guest was then required to provide a credit card for a €350 deposit for the two-night stay. Nobody had informed me about this requirement beforehand, even though I had specifically asked about the payment arrangements in advance. This was particularly frustrating because I had repeatedly been assured that all charges had been settled and that my guests would not need to pay anything themselves.
The problems did not end there. I had to visit the hotel three separate times to check reservations, clarify payments, and resolve issues that should have been handled correctly from the beginning. On each occasion, I spent more than an hour and ten minutes at reception trying to get the group properly registered.
Despite all this time and effort, the guests’ names were still not correctly entered into the system, and the reservations remained under my name and phone number. As a result, several guests were unable to check in properly.
It is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this level to handle such a straightforward group booking so poorly. We were talking about just eight rooms, not a large conference with hundreds of guests. The reception staff seemed unable to manage even this relatively small group efficiently."
