Dominican Hotel

"The Dominican is a very nice hotel. It is located right near everything and the Old Town Square. Front desk was more than helpful in everything that was needed. One of the young men at the front desk assisted me with getting a bus for our stay in Munich, very helpful. Did not have the breakfast but it did look very good."

"Good hotel I liked the architecture and simplicity of the classical and traditional room. Lovely bathroom and furnishings. Area was extremely central. Not optimal for me due to tacky shops selling cannabis products and the type of souvenirs best for landfill. Such a beautiful city which could be so much better if they regulated the sheer amount or shops selling junk amongst the magical buildings and intriguing streets. The hotel is right in the middle of this area. Staff friendly, intelligent and spoke impeccable English. Could not fault. Nice touch to leave fruit and strudel in the lobby area. One thing I would really improve would be to supply some complimentary coffee pods in the room for the Nespresso machine. Charging for these is not commensurate of 4 star hotels and also maybe some fresh milk in the fridge would also be a 4 star experience. Perhaps this was a decision made by a penny pinching accountant and not someone trained in international hospitality? ! We didn't opt for the expensive breakfast. Probably designed for heavy eaters who want to fill their boots. But 18 euro per head for a pastry and coffee didn't present good value for Prague if you want to eat sensibly. Overall not bad. But certain improvements could be considered to raise the game! The building and location have great potential."

"So one of the things I loved about Prague was how great its old town is…and The Dominican is really in step with that. First of all, the name…the hotel used to be the home of Dominican monks and dates back to the 13th century…and building really retains much of that character. I stayed in an attic room…which I considered amazing. It was really something seeing all those old wooden beams and thinking, "This room is likely 700+ years old." My room was super clean (and I am picky about this) and had all the modern amenities…though, if I could offer up one suggestion, it'd be to add a little fridge to keep drinks cold (the staff gladly accommodated my "cold drinks" request with a bucket of ice…which worked fine for me). The hotel is really close to Charles Bridge and the Astronomical clock…and practically next door to Prague's Beer Museum. There are tons of restaurants nearby…and it's a very short Metro ride to the main train station (just two stops). I opted for breakfast on a busy day and have to say I left quite satisfied. If I revisit Prague again (and I really want to, it's just so nice a place), I would gladly rebook at The Dominican. Super quaint, super near everything, very clean, comfy, good breakfast. Only two bits of advice I would give…it can be a little tricky to find at night…at least it was for me…but this is the nature of the old town. Also, if you do get an attic room (like the one I had), you do have to be a bit mindful of those wooden roof beams. They are really cool, but it can be easy to do a head ding if you're not careful. I mean, I really loved them…they just added to the overall late medieval character of the building…it really felt like stepping back in time…but if you're six feet tall (like me), you do have to be mindful of them. But honestly, I cannot say enough nice things about The Dominican overall…just really nice."
