"Terrible experience, I strongly discourage everyone from choosing this place when visiting Prague.
• To start with, we were put in the hotel’s other building, across the street from the main one. Every time we went for breakfast or to speak to someone at the reception, we had to cross a busy road (cars + trams). When checking in, the receptionist actually said ‘be careful when crossing the street, the trams won’t stop’;
• The noise from the street continues throughout the night;
• The hotel does not have AC – we were given a fan which simply didn’t do the job in the heat;
• Standard quality of very basic breakfast products, definitely expected better food from a 4-star hotel;
• Horrible staff members:
1) Shortly after entering the room for the first time, one of the staff members simply opened the door to our room because she wanted to add some items in the fridge. She didn’t knock on the door, she opened them herself.
2) On the second day of our stay, the cleaning lady wanted to come in when we were in the room, getting ready to leave. Knowing that she doesn’t speak English, I simply said: ’10 minutes, please’. She acknowledged saying ‘Okay’.
Upon returning late evening, we realised that our room was not cleaned. I went to the reception across the street, and spoke with the night receptionist, who apologised for the inconvenience but said he couldn’t do anything about it at the moment (night shift) and asked to come back in the morning.
We followed the advice and had the terrible experience of talking – actually not talking, having an argument – with the most disrespectful, unprofessional, rude, and passive-aggressive receptionist we have ever met in our lives. I told him about what the issue was and asked if there is a possibility for a partial refund, as I failed to understand why I would be charged for a service (room cleaning) I didn’t receive. He said there is no such possibility as we didn’t make the reservation directly at the hotel. He did offer us a bottle of wine. I said that this was disappointing and that we were not interested in getting any bottle of alcohol, which unnerved the ‘gentleman’ at the reception. His attitude became offensive and extremely bad-mannered. During the conversation I kept calm, but he didn’t and I had to suggest twice to the receptionist to change his approach.
In short, this place could pass as a strong 2-star hotel, perhaps even weak 3-start one. Definitely not deserving the 4 stars it apparently holds for some reason. Unprofessional staff. Better look for another place in Prague."
