Apartments Sol Stella for Plava Laguna

"Old and dirty houses, broken outlets, but above all we were robbed; they opened our house and stole 500 euros, the reception knows nothing.."

"We stayed a week in Apartments Stella Plava Laguna in Umag, together with three families. We have been coming to Croatia for more than 22 years, but we have never experienced such a bad experience. In the pictures the accommodation looks neat and well-kept, but the reality is unfortunately very different. The furniture is very old and damaged. Above the sofa, the stucco came loose, causing pieces to fall down regularly. In the bathroom, water was constantly coming from under the floor. There has been a mechanic who re-sealed the toilet, but the problem persisted and the bathroom floor remained wet throughout our stay. In addition, our room (number 163) was right next to a technical or electrical room. As a result, we had a lot of noise all week. That was not only very disturbing, but also did not give a pleasant feeling. We reported our complaints immediately. Only after two official complaints by email did we receive a response three days later. The only solution was to move to another apartment in another building. There was no apology and no compensation of any kind. For a stay of € 1,805 for a week for 2 people you can really expect more. Moreover, if we wanted to move, we had to arrange everything ourselves. That would have cost us at least half a holiday. The playground was also a big disappointment. In the pictures this one looks fine, but in reality there is overdue maintenance and some playground equipment even looks dangerous for children. At the beach it is indicated that the dog part is about 100 meters away. In practice, hardly anyone complied. Dogs peed and walked on the beach where children played and guests sunbathed. When we reported this to the employee who rented out the sunbeds (€ 7 per bed and € 6 for a parasol), he indicated that this was not his responsibility. Positive: the location is excellent, close to the beach, and the beach bar staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, these advantages do not outweigh the many negatives. Based on our experience we would not recommend this accommodation."

"Where do we start, the beach was really top-notch, no complaints there, our accommodation was okay, the only thing that really bothered us was that no one came to clean the rooms, you have to report everything to the reception to get new towels or because the floor needs cleaning since there is too much sand. We had half-board, the breakfast was okay, the dinner with small children was catastrophic, since dinner was only available from 7:00 PM. Unfortunately, the dinner was not really good and we unfortunately had the bad luck that there were an extreme number of school groups there, and the buffet was much too small for so many school groups. The pool was completely dirty and unfortunately the children's area, the great ship, was closed, even though there were a lot of children there. The staff was really friendly, no complaints there. Our experiences regarding the food were not that great. We then ate at the restaurant on the beach, since we could eat there earlier with the kids and it was much better."
