"Not the best experience. On arrival we were told our room wasn’t available. We’d paid a lot extra for a suite . The young girl was nice enough but a bit naive and non plussed about the situation. We were offered 10% off ! A little later it went to 25% which we agreed to but under duress . It was very hot and to be honest we couldn’t be bothered to move to a different hotel after a long journey. The room was just about adequate and the bathroom the same , but a very funny smell lingered in the bathroom. Little faults like the curtain hooks missing and only 2 teabags for three cups! A lack of spare pillows, the bathroom door not closing because of the curtains etc…… Having stopped in many similar hotels I found the buffet breakfast very poor compared to others around Europe . A clean hotel but could do with a lot of work on the smaller things/problems to bring it up to scratch ."
Cancelled booking few hours we arrive
"> Absolutely unacceptable experience. My confirmed reservation was cancelled on the same day of arrival due to “overbooking,” which shows a complete lack of professionalism and respect for guests. > > I was forced to find alternative accommodation last minute at a much higher price. The compensation offered through Booking.com was completely insufficient and did not even come close to covering the actual cost difference. > > This kind of behavior is irresponsible and leaves travelers in a very stressful situation with no real support. A confirmed booking clearly means nothing here. > > I would strongly advise others to avoid this hotel, as they cannot be trusted to honor reservations. ---"
except the location, this hotel was a very disappointing experience!!!
"Room 502, 5th floor: the smallest room ever! So narrow that we were hitting and banging our heads against the inclination of the walls! We had 3 luggages and not enough space to open them. NOT A FUNCTIONNAL ROOM AT ALL!! Very small bed 200x140cm! Not double as requested. We asked for a room change. They told us it was possible only with extra charge! From day one TV and freezer was not working. The receiver was replaced but not the freezer! NO TELEPHONE in the room!!! No room socket next to bed: the one on the right was not accessible and the two accessible on the left had no power!! The shower was linking water every time we took a shower. We had breakfast the first morning only! The coffee was horrible and had to pay extra for coffee from the coffee machine!! The buffet was Very poor: couple of cakes, we were served a plate with few things such as egg, carrots, 2 pieces of cheese and hams, marmalade and yoghurt. The 2nd morning the buffet had many shortcomings, and had to wait. The 3rd morning, the buffet was almost empty 2 hours before the expiration time & the waitress was going panic, but we couldn’t wait longer as we had booked an excursion! The 4th day the situation got worst. We never return again for breakfast, (paid and included in the booking). The bed sheets replaced the 6th day, we noticed that as there was a marker line on the right side of the sheet. One day, one of the windows remained open all day long after room cleaning (what if it was raining that day?) and the room got freeze. The air conditioning was not working that night. It got repaired the next day after noticed to the reception. We complained for all those problems, every time to a different receptionist, kindly listening to us, writing down the problems, but never solved one so far! To sum up, we travel all around Europe, knowing what 4 stars hotels look like, relying on comments, reviews and rates… Apollo hotel was a big disappointing experience!!! The worst hotel we’ve ever booked so far!!"
